Talk about NBA Live 95-2002 here.
Mon Mar 08, 2004 5:38 pm
I noticed that most of our beloved patchers are now patching for Live 2004 : Dirtdog1-David, iDiot (well, he patches for Live 2003 indeed), and now unoquepasa is going to the dark side of the force (). I'm personnally playing more and more Live 2004, even if I get frustated by some parts of the game
On the other side, I also noticed that many Live 2004 patchers don't have a website, so it's really hard to get their patchs.
For the moment, Alexsite still have about 120 visitors per day, but the stats decreased a little in one month, and it won't going better anymore I think. That's the same for the Live 2000 forum here, it has been pretty calm for the last month, except for unoquepasa's thread.
I was thinking of leaving Live 2000 (i'll move the site to an old server), and dedicating Alexsite to NBA Live 2004.
Players and patchers, tell me what do you think of it !!!
Mon Mar 08, 2004 5:49 pm
well... i still play live 2000 more than 2003

(but that's like once a month, testing out stupid superheroes on 2003 doesn't count as playing

) but yeah, i noticed that the 2000 boards are dying.... unfortunately...
to tell you the truth, i'd definitely play 2004 over 2000 if my computer can run it, as all that i'd heard about it were good things, and now customart is fixed too.... (and definitely won't touch 2003... eck

)
whatever your decision is though, heh... you have my support... you'd done alot for the live2000 community with alexsite and your

rosters....
anyways, happy 2004 patching
i hope i would finally save up enough for a new comp in time for live 2005~
Tue Mar 09, 2004 6:21 am
I am going to be disappointed b/c my computer won't run 2004, but it is your decision.
Wukk you still work on the rosters?
I think we all noticed that the forum has died down. I say go to 2004 but keep your 2000 files.... don't delete them. That goes for everybody who plays 2000.
Thnaks for staying with 2000 for as long as you have.
Tue Mar 09, 2004 7:19 am
I must say that even in my little time here at the forum, I have been thinking of upgrading my computer to be able to play Live 2004 and I thank all the great patchers out there for their works and hope they continue making great patches for Live 2004

Why don't you have the best of both worlds?
You can have patches dedicated both for NBA Live 2004 & NBA Live 2000...
As what have wonkajane said that all his retro/legend patches would end up wasted and it's really frustrating...
Anyway, good luck on your plans Alex and thank you for your endeavors on NBA Live 2000, you've contibuted a lot for the NBA Live 2000 community and soon to NBA Live 2004... for the meantime, i think I'll wait until NBA Live 2005 releases and see if it's really worth upgrading. (besides, i'm still saving for a new computer)
(both NBA Live 2000 and 2004 are installed on my computer and i don't have any problems playing them alternating both from time to time.)
wonkajane, i'm very much interested on your retro/legend patches... Please send me those on my e-mail address, also bb14's retro courts.
Hope to see you guys (Dirtdog1-David, unoquepasa, alexboom, etc...) back in NBA Live 2000 in the near future!
Tue Mar 09, 2004 1:28 pm
I will continue to add support for the legends site and regular patches; Live 2000 is the greatest game I have ever played on PC; I played it before 9/11/01 and I will continue to play it; btw, Wonkajane can you send me those patches as well, btw I will send you pics to work with if you want/need them
Thanks

I agree with Patrixx......... having Live 2000 and 2004 both available for download would be the right thing to do? What do you think Alex?
Live 2000 is still my all-time favorite, but patching for Live 2004 is so much cooler................ now with Morph mesh and texture mapping, i have not been able to find time to patch Live 2000.
I know i was one of the first to jump ship.............. but i had been patching Live 2000 since 2001 and it was getting a little old.
I picked up some of the Live 2000 slack when Live 2001 come out and things on the 2000 board were very quite, and not too long after that Alex offered to make Alexsite, and then soon followed Unoquepasa and all of a sudden Live 2000 was cool again.
Now Live 2004 is out; things are slow again............So what i am saying is this?.....................Now it's time for some of the newer guys to learn to patch, so this game can remain active and fully patched!!!
Thanks Alex for all the hosting and PM in the past two years, and the National Teams was fun also.
Ps, I sure could use a host for my Live 2004 patches.
PPS- Wonkajane- You been holding out................ please send those retro courts this way.

hey men, this is not the end... i didn't made up my mind yet

i won't start immediately a new live 2004 site, as i already have trouble in updating alexsite and legends site (by the way, wonkajane, i didn't forget you, i'll try to put your patches online
soon)
this poll was just to check your opinions guys, i wouldn't like maintaining alexsite if almost everyone left it...
i think offering both live 2000 and live 2004 in the same site may be a little messy for users, and above all, i really suffer from a lack of space so if i want to start a live 2004 site, i gotta move alexsite to another server.
anyway, updating alexsite with guys like you and providing such excellent patches was REALLY cool

thanks a LOT to every patchers and players

I created Virtual Sports Domain because i think there 's no game as realistic as Nba Live 2000. However, the game lacks in several domains like AI and Free throw difficulty (too easy).
We find 3 "sport sections" on my site but it was initially dedicated to Live 2000.
When Nba live 2004 came out, I hoped to find the best basketball game of all times, but the reality is different !
Unfortunately, Live 2004 is a copy of Live 2003 with some good improvements (IA, Sliders and gameplay) and bad adds like cartoonish graphic, bad camera view (since 2003) and horrible blocks !
Why we still play with live 2000 ?
Because the 2003-2004 versions don't offer the same sensation, or
the last games don't run in their PC too.
Like there is no other basketball game (on PC), no other alternative on the market (only Easports), all the people thinks Live 2004 is the best, however it isn't (for me).
Alexboom, if your "2000 section" disappears one day, I will be sad because I love the cyberface part.
Take your time to take any decision.
I am ready to abandon the Nba live 2000 section on my site for a "revolutionary 2005 version", but not for Nba Live 2004...

bb14, don't worry, even if i give up alexsite, the site will still be available with most of the cyberfaces and etc ...
for the moment i haven't planned to abandon it ... i will make an update soon with new unoquepasa's patches. I don't receive other patches any longer .... And I won't start a Live 2004 site for the moment (even if that would be great to host Dirtdog patches for instance

) as I don't really have the time to update 2000 ... things may be better in next weeks ...
thanks guys for giving me your opinions and thoughs

If I don't like the new version (same with Live 2003 last year

) i'll return to Live 2000 and i'll continue doing more patches for this classic version.
Sure of it!

I'll be very sad if Alexsite abandon NBA Live 2000.
Right now, I can't afford a new PC even If I'm intending to buy one in the near future. I don't even own a copy of NBA Lives after 2001.
I could say that undoubtly NBA Live 2000 is the best sports game I've ever played. No other sports game I ever came across was so challenging and enjoyable after so much time.
I'm not really a patcher... although I make some patches just for personal use. The patches I intend to release never get finished because I rather prefer to play my franchise than spend my rare free time patching. This is the main reason why I love so much Alexsite. There aren't sites like that for any other NBA Live game.

Well said bb14 and i totally agree with you on that!
NBA Live 2000 is indeed a classic game!
(Half-Life, Counterstrike, Starcraft, etc. are also games which up to now, a lot of people are still playing!)
Thu Mar 11, 2004 11:23 am
I got Starcraft and Live 2000 and I enjoy them both still after 6 and 5 years, respectively

I still play Live 2000 with my crappy PC and would be dissapointed if Alexsite abandons it.
Tue Mar 16, 2004 1:49 am
Hey Alexboom, I remember when you fist started up your site, when I was still playing 2000... (were those the days of the old NLSC?) I was excited but there wasn't much on it yet... now so many years later I visit it again an wowzers, there's so much on it, so many faces... it would be a shame for you to end it, but if you think you can help out the 2004 community then go for it, or maybe you could continue both. Either way, you're an asset to the community and its good to have you around
Sat Mar 20, 2004 1:36 pm
There are enough people patching for 2004 already, so you really shouldn't leave. If you do, who else is here to carry on Live 2000? All the older versions of Live need patches more since they are outdated than the more previous ones. Enough people are patching for 2004 so you really shouldn't go there.

Evolve to 2004. Your skills will be needed--I like the creativity of your site. Hopefully you'll be able to incorporate that in Live 2004
Wed Mar 24, 2004 4:29 am
Don`t worry! When you play live 2004, return to live 2000 in two days!

This explains why the annoncements section has been dead for awhile. We need you back unoquepasa and alex!! You two were like batman and robin for this game.
