NBA Live Vintage Videos & Screenshots

Andrew and I connected over Parsec and played a game of NBA Live 97 (He hosted).

Here are the highlights.

Still can't believe Parsec works that well when I host! Vintage though it may be, NBA Live 97 is still a lot of fun as well. If there is a weakness in that game though, it's that it's unusually difficult to block shots, leading to some very low numbers. I'd say they toned it down too much after NBA Live 95 and NBA Live 96, where it was admittedly too easy to block almost anything.

Dee Brown's spin into the dunk is one of the best moves I've seen in NBA Live 95 PC, but as I said on YouTube, I'm also partial to that two-handed poster dunk by Nique in the first quarter.

NBA Live 95 is incredibly fun still... and one of the reasons is the game is simple, yet had no canned animations, or super long animations that play out. You have control.

Time for that 1995 Playoff run!

Still one of my worst choke jobs missing two out of three free throws at the end of regulation. Still a fun game, a satisfying win when it was all over at last.

I'm having a blast revisiting these games, especially with mods (even work-in-progress ones)! They're still fun to play again vanilla, but rosters take things to another level.

The power dribble into a dunk by Webber is still my favourite play from the game. Everything came together on that possession.

Penny was unstoppable in that one...at least until we started forcing some turnovers!

Connecting to play that game definitely encouraged me to consider some retro modding projects...if only fixing up a few old rosters!
