Hey welcome to Live 2000 JC, :)
We need a roster man! The NBA draft will be next week, we have about 80% of the soon to be new rookies faces done, but there will be no roster to use. :?
The last Live 2000 roster update that didn't require any older faces to go with it was Ben's that was made in December, but I know there was a problem with crashes with that one.

Andrew had started something, and then passed it to Alex, but as far as I know the community roster is no where near complete.

So my choice is definitely a roster update, or a new one.

should i make the roster patch after the nba draft, or before the nba draft. and when i make the roster patch, the first version of the patch will only have all the players in their correct teams. there will not be a free agent pool and there will not be any adjusted ratings. in version one, i'll try to put retired players like: patrick ewing, joe dumars, manute bol, muggsy bogues, and other players into the legends pool. i will need help on deciding the ratings of international rookies for the 2nd version of the roster. i also need help on deciding whether to put free agents after this season in the free agent pool or to keep them on the teams they were on before the end of the season. i have also almost succesfully made an add-on that will let people draft real actual rookies in future drafts in franchise mode. for the roster patch, i will also need the latest roster anyone can find and i will make changes to that.

by the way: nba live 2000 is better than 2001

Yes! Another patcher. NBA Live 2000 is better but its database crashes are annoying.

I would defiantly say do a roster patch, and right now I do not care if it has no adjusted ratings in the first release as all I want to see is real progress. I say keep the FA's to be on their teams for one more year atleast in the first release because it will be unrealistic playing a franchise and a little like cheating if we can all have first pick at the top FAs for minimum salary. I would want a pre-NBA Draft patch and then a Post one but that is up to you. Also I can help with suggestions on International Player Ratings after I get a feel for the other player ratings on the roster.

My Two cents....

All I can say is please take into consideration the strengths and weaknesses in game play that Live 2000 has. When I created the National team’s roster, I concentrated on a few of these things.

Here is some of the criteria I used when working on the ratings. I use the toolkit, but i know the toolkit re-calculates the numbers, so the numbers I use here are the numbers before the re-calculation.

1) Primacy for inside players, (Centers and PF) should be the highest
on the team. The big men don't get enough touches, and when
simming a season their ppg are too low

2) Blocks way, way down between 1-54, with 54 the best.

3) Inside shooting much, much higher. 65-99

4) Steals higher.........

5) Free throw shooting as low as you can go with some players. Even the better players, don't exceed say 35-40.

6) Fg pct. Higher than usual

7) Speed and especially acceleration for bigger men, a lot lower than guards, so there can be some form of a fast break.

8) Remember for dribbling and dunking there is a cut-off rating, where they will be able to perform these moves or not. Lower than this number they will not be able to spin or dunk. I think dribbling is at or near 58, for big men don’t go too low on the dribbling because they will turn the ball over too much in the low post.
