Creating a player and inserting him into the rookie pool.

Does this work? because I created a player, and changed his team in the players.dbf to 39(rookies) but when I simmed my franchise out to rookie draft he did not show up.

Any solutions? comments?

Make sure all team values are set to 39 (SALARYTEAM as well). Change his ISGENERATE attribute to TRUE.

What is TRUE? -1? because in Live the other rookies do not say true, they say -1.

Well, I got the players into the rookie pool and they were drafted, but now on the trade screen they show up as a blank player with no salary, no rating no name.

But when I play a game against them they are there?? Any idea what the problem is?

Thanks

In my experience, you just have to set the value to TRUE. Not -1, just TRUE.

I'm not sure about the other problem. I'll get back to you.

I tried adding a rookie to the pool, just to make sure my advice/method is correct, and it is. Some important points to remember:

  • Set ISGENERATE to True
  • Although not necessary, you can change the player's ID to a value much greater than the last player in the database (ie. if the last created player's ID is 1035, set the player you are placing in the draft pool's ID to 2000).
  • Set ORIGTEAM, TEAM and SALARYTEAM to 39.
  • Remember to fill in all necessary player data fields - created players in Live 2000 by default do not have RANGE2 and DHARDY ratings. Also fill in rookie strengths/weaknesses, ROOKIERANK (projected draft position), etc.
  • Leave all draft field values at 0.

Detailed explanation of the fields in players.dbf can be found here.

Inserting created player into rookie mode

Postby mortalsoul3 on Sat Apr 19, 2003 5:19 am

Admittedly, I am a tech novice, so excuse my ignorance . . . how I do access the rookie pool such that I may insert a user-created player into the draftable rookie pool? Please be explicit while responding in laymen's terms, if at all possible. Thanks much.

Peace.
