Problems with short range shots

A big ciao from Italy.
My problem is that I miss more than a half of the short range shots. I'm talking about shot from the painted area (except for dunks). Sometimes I have better percentages from 3-pointers than under the basket shots.
I use to play with Shot Control CPU (at Superstar level). Is there any tricks to improve this?

I'd suggest playing with Shot Control set to User, since that will give you more control over the shot hence making the point of release more important.
