PC Hotfix 2

Talk about NBA 2K16 here.

PC Hotfix 2

Postby Leftos on Fri Oct 09, 2015 10:36 am

A second minor PC-specific hotfix has been released to Steam half an hour ago. Reboot your Steam client to get it if it doesn't automatically download. Like last week's, it attacks various issues that cause stuttering and worse framerate than last year. I don't have any specific patch notes, but I believe those should be posted soon.

We're still investigating the commentary issue and we have a fix in the works, just not enough time to test it to make it into today's update.

We've also been keeping track of all other issues that pertain to all platforms and we're working on fixes for an upcoming cross-platform patch. I don't have an ETA I can give you for that yet.

EDIT: Official Patch Notes

- Added support for 21:9 UltraWide monitors, multiple monitor displays, and other non-16:9 aspect ratios.

- Fixed an issue where frame rate could stutter (even on higher end graphics cards) in either or both of gameplay and MyPARK.

- Fixed a bug where playcalling icons were not appearing for some users.

- Resolved a driver crash on below min spec DirectX 10.0 cards, such as the NVidia 9800 GT.

- Optimized crowd rendering, resulting in slightly improved performance on many configurations.

- Fixed ‘black rectangle’ artifact.

- Removed super sample configuration option due to driver instability.

Note: We are currently investigating reports of commentary dropping out during gameplay. We will look to address this in our next patch. Thanks!

Awesome. Excellent support so far. Sure, the game shouldn't have these bugs to begin with, but two patches in two weeks to address the issues is good news.

There's still no improvement for me personally, but it's nice to see that effort is being put in. I'll continue to hold out hope :D Nice to get passing icons back in the meantime as well.

Testing the patch game atm on my laptop. Theres still no support for keyboard (for people who wanted to know). Framerate did increase a little bit but was not significant. I still notice some stuttering even at 30-45 fps (medium / low settings). Going to test this on my desktop tomorrow.

Thanks for this and for being "alive" here and informing us!

What about all the "99-cheaters"? Are you keeping track of this too and will you ban those obvious cheaters?

Wouldn't stuttering be expected at that framerate? I was under the impression that the game is an unplayable choppy mess at anything other than 60 fps. If there's a way to play at framerates between 30-60 fps, I'd love to hear it because then I could turn up some settings :)

Nah, I still get a 15 FPS drop (60 down to 45) when the camera zooms out and my PG gets across the halfcourt.

Appreciate the effort of 2k though

I'm surprised on how patient I am with 2K16. But I'm more surprised on how they still haven't added keyboard support since that's probably the main reason why they are 6/10 in steam.

Can I ask why you still play with a keyboard? I'm genuinely interested as to how people find it more intuitive to move a player around with four arrow keys instead of a stick.

As for the patch, it has noticeably improved performance for me.

For people asking wherever things are fixed such as fatigue and sweat, these are issues that are cross-platform and have nothing to do with performance, which is the point of these hotfixes. As I said, issues like that are known and we're working on fixes to be included with the cross-platform patches.

Please keep reporting your basic configurations and whether performance has improved, and we'll keep looking for further optimizations if possible.

Also, keep reporting cross-platform issues in the bugs and glitches thread for the upcoming patches.

Appreciate the feedback.

Especially when it should not take too much time to complete the configuration that's already in the game ;)

buzzy, as I said before, I don't invest all of my day and night playing games since I study Medicine and that requires a shitload of anyone's time. If you want everyone to stop saying that, buy all of them a controller

bbreeze, nice! I look forward to updating the game now. PS, where can I find that setting?

It shows up when You unplug the gamepad. It's not possible to change any keyboard settings - it doesn't work. I have found that 2 weeks ago. I guess this is just a proof that 2K forgot about the keyboard settings - it's supposed to be in the game but it's incomplete.

Can I ask why you still play with a keyboard? I'm genuinely interested as to how people find it more intuitive to move a player around with four arrow keys instead of a stick.
If you really need to know, I personally utilize the keyboard for playing many games due to brain memory. I have been playing PC games since the 90's and have pretty much used the same keys for various movements/plays/functions. It's instinct and as a professional who has on average 4-5 hours of play time per week, I don't have time, nor the inclination to relearn the functions. I can use a ps3/4 controller on other games, but PERSONALLY PREFER to use the keyboard.

Many of us use a keyboard for our own reasons, so why those who prefer other methods must get all "mother superior" about it, get a life. Seriously, some of us do have one.
Now as for this game, I enjoyed NBA2K14, and with the mods it has become one of my favorites to play. I pre-ordered 16 after skipping 15 and since I only have several weeks at home until February, I was hoping to get this game up and running, and getting some enjoyment out of it prior to leaving. With the keyboard binding being broken, I have not been able to play a single game with any enjoyment (WSAD sucks!), and thus will be returning it. I have until Monday to do so, and with this not being a priority for 2K, my decision is an easy one to make.
I understand they have many things to fix, and a debate on how polished a product should be prior to release can go on and on, but the lack of information by 2K addressing the issues is disappointing. Other than "Leftos" (and I do appreciate his presence here), it practically doesn't exist. I just hope this game brand doesn't become another MLB2k09 or MLB2K12.

Yeah but this is not the solution ;) I just wanted to show that keyboard configuration sholud be available in the game. It's definitely a bug and should be fixed asap. I hope they will include this in next patch.

slickster222 I have PC since '99. I grew up playing fps, rts, rpg games. I'm so used to keyboard that it's just the most comfortable method of gaming for me. I have Logitech gamepad but It's pretty annoying and I don't enjoy playing any game with this. I know that for You it's easier etc but believe me .. playing 2K series on keyboard since NBA 2K08 it's a piece of cake for me ;)
