Dev diary? Wow, it's like the clock got turned back 5 years or so. Hyping up the game with legit info rather than stupid hashtags seems so outdated these days.
Anyway, glad to see franchise modes continue to be addressed after being neglected for about 5 years. Someone over at 2K apparently still cares for customers other than the MyCRAP crowd. MyLeague is the best sports game mode ever and it's great that it's getting elevated further. This is all welcome information and worthy additions ("save as" and no autosave above all, seriously... these things should have never become wishlist items in the first place, but I'm happy to see this finally corrected) to an already satisfactory franchise experience and I appreciate the work dearly, but I still have a few pretty serious pet peeves that I haven't seen addressed and supplementary questions about features I would like to see. If Leftos or another dev sees this, hopefully they answer whatever they can.
Will a player's market value change depending on his performance or is it still all overall/age/potential?
Can we make trades during the offseason (after the draft, before the start of the new season)?
Is the FA disappearing bug fixed?
Are players' salary demands in FA a bit down to Earth this time? I'm mainly getting at the lower rated guys who ask for silly amounts of money and make filling out your roster when capped out a nightmare. When even scrubs rated in the 50s ask for at least about a million per year, something's clearly wrong. My favorite is that guy who asks for about 10K above the minimum and would happily accept that offer, but gets offended by a minimum offer and shoots it down immediately. Needless to say, this is remarkably dumb. Dudes with scrub-level ratings should just be happy someone's willing to offer them an NBA roster spot. The same goes for players who sit in the FA pool unsigned by anyone and still ask for a mountain of money instead of lowering their asking price a bit (even if nobody in the league has cap space or an exception to give them the money they want!), maybe even playing for the minimum for a year in an attempt to build up their value (happens in real life pretty much every year). Another annoyance would be ring-chasing veterans who will, however, demand a salary in the neighborhood of $600-700K and won't sign for the minimum even if I'm a capped out contender and end up playing for $700K for a lottery team instead. Free agency clearly needs work and not a whole lot was said about it.
Speaking of minimum salary, are the proper minimum salary scales (based on years of NBA experience) in the game?
What about non-guaranteed contracts with different guarantee dates (end of training camp/early January/trade deadline/whatever)?
Last but not least, something that would probably be pretty tricky to implement... can we protect picks in trades? Even if not fully customizable, basic protection options like top3-protected, top5-protected, top10-protected, lotto-protected would be a good start.
