Quick chat with Jeff Thomas over on Operation Sports, about Pro-Am in NBA 2K16:

Some key points:

  • Custom arenas are for team play exclusively, while the four court Pro-Am arena is for walk-on play.
  • Only the team owner can manage team designs and customisation.
  • Users can be part of multiple squads.
  • Pro-Am is playable with three human users and two CPU-controlled teammates, if you don’t have five users available.
  • There are no position restrictions.

I looked at the comments on OS, can't believe there were like 2 or 3 guys that just kept complaining about only needing 3 users to play.
The game continues to improve, people continue to complain. I understand some modes will not please everyone but to complain in multiple posts about a mode that no one has played yet is going a little far.

I'm still getting joy out of college hoops 2k8 for crying out loud. These are just games, they can never be perfect.

Ideally you want to play five users against five users, but that's not always going to feasible. I think it would be a worse idea to lock people out of playing because a couple of friends can't make it, random people drop out or quit, or whatever.

To that end, I also think it's a good idea that the CPU teammates in that scenario will have average AI, so that teams that do field five user-controlled players will have a strategic advantage, and won't be at the mercy of a three user squad sitting back and letting the CPU dominate. It strikes me as a good compromise.
