How can I force PC update and check version?

Can anyone let me know how I can force Steam to auto update 2k16 with the PC patch? Also, what is the best way to check which version I currently have? (the patch may have already been applied)

It's not out yet but if you want it to auto download the patch when it's released just go to your steam library. Right click on nba 2k16 and go to properties. The 2nd tab is updates. You'll see an option for automatic updates and set it to always keep this game up to date.

Then when the patch comes out it will update when you try to open the game.

You won't be able to play if there's an update pending, updates on Steam are not optional, the only way to avoid them is to be offline or playing the updated title when the update rolls out. There's no way to miss it.

But wait a sec, I'm pretty sure my copy was patched about 2 weeks ago. There were patch notes too, as I recall and It was supposed to help with framerate lag. The original question was posed for my bro, who reinstalled the game and seems to get empty MyParks along with the message that it's "out of sync. "

Just have him re-verify his game cache, then. When you download the game fresh(like when re-installing), all the patches come with the download. Nothing separate has to be done.
