Just finished playing one game in MyLeague. There is a visible difference. Finally something is going on.
I agree. With all my settings left the same (
except for Vsync settings, that I will explain bellow) (my settings and system specs can be found here:
viewtopic.php?f=163&t=99743&p=1817346&sid=08d7fd5a835a55249445239c964291ed#p1817346) the game feels smoother.
With Vsync On, Dynamic Vsync On cutscenes and replays are limited @30fps, but then again in between quarter highlights are fluid.
However with Vsync On, and Dynamic Vsync Off cutscenes and replays are limited @60fps and look much better than before and game is much more fluid

(actually seems to be running as ideally as it can) with Dynamic Vsync Off, however with Dynamic Vsync Off, in between quarter highlights are back the slideshow mode (choppy and stuttering all the way), but since I don't care so much for the in between quarter highlights I am leaving Vsync On and Dynamic Vsync Off. Replays and cutscenes look so much better @60FPS
By the way, with this latest patch Supersample settings are gone from the video settings, at least with Nvidia GPU.Play calling icons are back and so is the hand-off icon.
So, Leftos, you could say stuttering is almost gone, except for the in between quarter (from 1st to 2nd, from 3rd to 4th) highlights (except highlights @halftime which run just fine @60fps), which seem like they are not even meant to go over 30fps, since its a rather odd looking stuttering which looks more like a slideshow and not stuttering of Dynamic Vsync is left OFF.

Since you asked...
i5-4210u
gt 840m
8 gb RAM
Acer Aspire V3-572G-54S6
I really haven't seen any performance improvements with the hotfixes thus far, and still have a significantly worse experience than 2k15...judging from the Steam forums, this seems relatively common among those with mobile gpus. I need to run the game on completely minimum settings to get a constant 60 fps, and even then I sometimes have to deal with framerate drops around the basket/baseline. For comparison, I could run 2k15 with all settings except one on "high" (at 720p/900p, with special effects and AA off of course), though the framerate drops around the basket/baseline were present then as well (though could at least be eliminated by putting settings low enough).
Thanks for your continued hard work.

Appreciate the effort of 2k though

Neither of these are stuttering. it's simply that you both have rigs that can't handle the game...

Official patch notes added to first post.

Thanks, Leftos.

I'm assuming these notes are for both patches?

Yeah, they're cumulative.

play calling icons are back but still there are no icons for passing

Edit: No stuttering during gameplay, none. Perfect. But the stuttering is still there at the beginning of the game, when the first scenes are presented. It's like they move in 10 fps. It's weird because there is nothing special, just the players talking to their coaches but the game is laggy as hell; the same scenes are allright during a timeout anytime of the game. (any scenes at the beginning of the game are laggy, the team presentation, national anthem, etc ). I hope it can be fixed.

Icon Pass button, I have it binded as RF2
you press that button when you wanna pass using icons above players heads(just like calling plays), button works but there are no icons so is easy to mix up positions sometimes
on 2k15 it worked like a charm

That's right. When You call for a pick&roll, icons are visible. It still doesn't work for 'Icon Pass'.

I previously reported an issue with Icon Passing. Presently and for roughly a week, it has been working fine for me in MyCareer NBA games. However, it never worked correctly in HS or College games. In those games, one or two of the icons would appear at the very bottom edge of my screen instead of over my teammates' heads, if they appeared at all. I played those games pre-hotfix, though, so I'll have to see if it this fix has resolved that.
I'll create a new MC player and play a HS game late tonight (after Midnight EST) and post an update.

How can I tell if the patch is installed? I am online in Steam, but there's no indication of a download. Update history goes to the 2K16 news site.

I'm confused, people were reporting that with the first hotfix icon pass icons were working but not the icons for playcalling and plays. I've confirmed that icon passing icons show up in Hotfix 2 as well (see
http://imgur.com/LY0JoxQ), at least in my configuration, and that the playcalling and plays icons are back. Has icon passing not worked for you at all since the release of the game? What video settings are you using?

Go to the folder you installed Steam into, and then steamapps\common\NBA 2K16. Sort by date modified. If NBA2K16.exe was updated yesterday (October 8th), you should have the latest hotfix.

Just so everyone knows, I was told that Full Screen performance should now be at par if not better than Full Screen Windowed. Is that what you're seeing as well, or is Full Screen Windowed still performing better for you?
Sat Oct 10, 2015 6:33 am
for me it is not working since the release of the game, I tried all kinds of settings but it just doesn't work

What? Could you elaborate on that cause I don't get it..
Pass icons
Play-calling icons

Leftos, thanks for the reply re: how to check for the update. The date is Oct 8. It was updated.

gameplay is a little bit better regarding the stutter.
Cut scenes, game intros still stutters a lot.

I too am having issues with framerate drops when the camera zooms out and the PG crosses halfcourt. It was the same last year. They somehow fixed with their 2nd patch (which was the best of the bunch). But messed it up again with the 3rd. Any idea why the framerate drops like that?. On the flipside, framerate goes up the closer the cam is to the players.

Huge difference, game plays smooth as butter now...going to try out regular fullscreen mode and see how that works compared to fullscreen windowed. Thanks alot Leftos and the guys

For me is very smooth now.
I dont have severe stutter after this patch, but now, is AMAZING! =)
Thks Leftos!

Sounds to me as though when you can see a lot of the crowd, your performance drops, and when you can't, it picks up.
If that's the case, try reducing or disabling the crowd.

In reference to my earlier post, I can confirm that Icon Passing is working properly for me in HS games whereas it did not at launch.

Wouldn't stuttering be
expected at that framerate? I was under the impression that the game is an unplayable choppy mess at anything other than 60 fps. If there's a way to play at framerates between 30-60 fps, I'd love to hear it because then I could turn up some settings

Well thats true. But 30 FPS is considered "playable," so anything above that should be above average performance. Games like the witcher 3 for example play fine at 30 fps. I know I cant compare that to basketball games because there's alot more going on but it should be playable if you are able to get at least 40 fps IMO.

Yea I know my laptop cannot handle the game... was just testing this out and reporting my findings. The stuttering I was mentioning was during cutscenes.. on mostly low settings and with crowd off. My laptop may not be that good compared to my desktop but it should at least run butter smooth if most settings are on low and all of the effects and shader off..
laptop specs are:
i7 3630QM
8 gb ram
GT 650M
Just providing my findings to the community especially for those with average rigs
