Read it on OS.

Some points of interest:

  • 3-Team Trades.
  • Autosave OFF – In MyLEAGUE, you will now have the ability to disable the Autosave feature. Additionally, you will be able to ‘Save As’ copies of your MyLEAGUE, thus creating multiple instances of it.
  • Up to two simultaneous injuries per player
  • Player Lock - in MyGM and MyLEAGUE you can now play as selected player or selected position. So people can turn it into CaL with natural progression.
  • Slider Sharing.
  • More stats.
  • SimCast mutated with live coaching.
  • Lots of info on team relocation, arena and jersey editor.
  • Also, division realignment.
  • MyLEAGUE Online - up to 30 players with flexible scheduling and custom rosters among other stuff. Invite only.
  • Revamped off-season.
  • 2K Hoops Summit - play with future draft class (1 game).
  • Teams are supposedly thinking about future now and plan (Leftos was apparently working on that part).
  • Lots of info about improved team AI logic.
  • Teams value players VERY differently.

Many titles often go years without change or innovation. When I read a preview for an upcoming release and the main thing they have to say about franchise is “we tuned the simulator for better results”, I know what the means. And I’m guessing you do too.

Jeez, shots fired.

In any event, HUGE blog, a lot of great information there. MyGM and MyLEAGUE are going to be deep and fantastic (indeed, fantastically deep) this year. I can see MyLEAGUE Online copping some criticism for not having any offseason tasks, but that'd be pretty hard to implement, especially if not everyone was up for a second season. It sounds like it's still going to be quite deep and a lot of fun, despite the challenges and limitations of taking that mode online. It all sounds great, possibly a little overwhelming for some users, but I suppose that's where the automation options come into play.

My only conern now for MyGM is if they made changes to free agency singing like players can now settle for the veteran's minimum for a chance to win a title or undrafted/unsigned rookies asking for less during in the offseason. In 2k15 those rookies would usually ask for more money then they should get.

Otherwise I'm excited for MyGM. Can't wait to give it a try. (Y)

I was planning to skip 2k16 just because I'm still enjoying 2k15, but the MyLeague updates are tempting me a lot. I love the detail of asking to interview foreign assistants, staff jumping between coaching and FO, and especially the updated trade logic and team building. So tired of seeing AI teams sign duplicate positional stars, little consideration for roster balance, and seeing a rebuilding team spend $10M+ on a washed-up veteran to take time away from developmental players just because of the veteran's higher rating.

Dev diary? Wow, it's like the clock got turned back 5 years or so. Hyping up the game with legit info rather than stupid hashtags seems so outdated these days.

Anyway, glad to see franchise modes continue to be addressed after being neglected for about 5 years. Someone over at 2K apparently still cares for customers other than the MyCRAP crowd. MyLeague is the best sports game mode ever and it's great that it's getting elevated further. This is all welcome information and worthy additions ("save as" and no autosave above all, seriously... these things should have never become wishlist items in the first place, but I'm happy to see this finally corrected) to an already satisfactory franchise experience and I appreciate the work dearly, but I still have a few pretty serious pet peeves that I haven't seen addressed and supplementary questions about features I would like to see. If Leftos or another dev sees this, hopefully they answer whatever they can.

Will a player's market value change depending on his performance or is it still all overall/age/potential?

Can we make trades during the offseason (after the draft, before the start of the new season)?

Is the FA disappearing bug fixed?

Are players' salary demands in FA a bit down to Earth this time? I'm mainly getting at the lower rated guys who ask for silly amounts of money and make filling out your roster when capped out a nightmare. When even scrubs rated in the 50s ask for at least about a million per year, something's clearly wrong. My favorite is that guy who asks for about 10K above the minimum and would happily accept that offer, but gets offended by a minimum offer and shoots it down immediately. Needless to say, this is remarkably dumb. Dudes with scrub-level ratings should just be happy someone's willing to offer them an NBA roster spot. The same goes for players who sit in the FA pool unsigned by anyone and still ask for a mountain of money instead of lowering their asking price a bit (even if nobody in the league has cap space or an exception to give them the money they want!), maybe even playing for the minimum for a year in an attempt to build up their value (happens in real life pretty much every year). Another annoyance would be ring-chasing veterans who will, however, demand a salary in the neighborhood of $600-700K and won't sign for the minimum even if I'm a capped out contender and end up playing for $700K for a lottery team instead. Free agency clearly needs work and not a whole lot was said about it.

Speaking of minimum salary, are the proper minimum salary scales (based on years of NBA experience) in the game?

What about non-guaranteed contracts with different guarantee dates (end of training camp/early January/trade deadline/whatever)?

Last but not least, something that would probably be pretty tricky to implement... can we protect picks in trades? Even if not fully customizable, basic protection options like top3-protected, top5-protected, top10-protected, lotto-protected would be a good start.

What about Create-A-Team? If all the elements for Create-A-Team are in (jersey, floor, logo creation) then it makes sense for CAT to be in. Hopefully you can answer this.

Thanks Leftos. Looks amazing. I remember when you and Jao were going to try to make the in-depth Association mod as an outside companion program. Here you are implementing those features for the official game!

Also, LOVE that peak age start and end are editable. Adds a layer of realism and customization to player development.

It won't be and you know it won't... :(. They don't want people creating unlicensed teams like the 92-93 Phoenix Suns or something like that.

Create-A-Team was in 2K14 last gen, and I'm pretty sure it's in 2K15 last gen too. So no, that's not the reason. It's only not in the next gen versions. Also, Leftos specifically said last year that he wanted CAT in 2K15, but there wasn't enough time.

Before there wasn't an option to upload images on the jerseys... that's a huge difference from the previous CAT. Besides I bet Leftos loves watching us speculate things so there's nothing wrong with asking questions like this. Sorry for shitting on your question :P

I would hope to have the ability in the future the option to have expansion in myleague in the near future. Not sure if this is restriction put on by the NBA to developers. But would be cool to have the ablity to add 2 , 4 or 6 teams during the life of your league. See the sonics back with losing a current day team for example. Maybe something that Team Leftos can put together.

Hell YES.

I was disappointed with last year's edition (and the previous one, plus poor PC support) but this got me sold. It's probably meaningless for US users, but it's awesome for anyone planning to play with their local non-NBA team, including its name, jersey and arena. Thanks Leftos (and co.) for this.

Edit: It says MyLeague Online in the beggining, but it's the same for offline, right?

MyLEAGUE and MyLEAGUE Online are two separate modes, if that's what you're asking.

I basically meant that I don't care about online modes (not a fan) and was planning to create my home town team (with the team branding/arena design thing) and play with it offline in MyGM/MyLEAGUE.

Just to be sure that it wasn't just an online feature the ability to "create" your own team, just like in ProAM.

mygm sounds very good, I also wish 2k will finally integrate an dynamic player development for association mode/MyGM, to reduce the high rating players. It's horrible, when after five seasons the free agent market constists of player with +80 and +90 rating, becuause nobody can sign or pay them.

I too am tired of hashtag updates and marketing slogans disguised as features.

This update, and 2K's info in general, has real meat on real features and real improvements.

Man, i'm excited about Association mode for the first time in like 4 years. With teams now having a specific cycle status (contending/rebuilding), and customizable player progression/regression (which is the CORE of it all at the end of the day)... finally Association mode will have the legit EVOLVING LANDSCAPE that i've been waiting for for like 8 years lol. As someone who is only really interested by Association mode, looks like 2k16 will be the game for me.

I swear i submitted that Team Building idea concept to a wishlist like 4 yrs ago. So excited! I took a year off from 2k15 (don't worry Leftos i still bought the game), so 2k16 should be fun. I can't wait to start creating fictional draft classes and then watching them affect the NBA landscape! I'll be sure to release the draft classes publicly too :)
