How To Fix MyPlayer Expired Account Error

Postby TBM on Fri Oct 10, 2014 8:37 am

Maybe this can be stickied since it's such a mass issue.

1. Go to nba2k.com
2. Go to the login page, and click "forgot password".
3. Fill out your email that you used when initially making your MyPlayer account with 2K15 and choose 2K15 PC64.
4. You'll get an email with a link to a temporary password. Sign in with that password.
5. You should have gotten an email when you made the MyPlayer account a few days ago. It has the subject "NBA2K15: Complete your MyPLAYER Account registration.‏" Click the verification link. You should get a message on nba2k.com confirming that your account has been verified.
6. Open 2K15 and pray.

Done. We'll probably created a FAQs section again this year, but for now a sticky should hopefully help everyone out. (Y)

Also, for anyone getting the game today, verify through your email immediately. The problem was that when you make the account on 2K15, you never get told to verify your account, despite the fact that you get sent a verification email.

Are 2k15 accounts independent of 2k14 accounts, 2k13 accounts, etc? I remember last year, I had to create a new user name and login and not just re-use 2k13's.

I think it's the same as 2K13s. Not sure, though. Either way, this method works.

Happened to me, too. I didn't get the activation email, so it's possible it was bounced by the spam filter. Hopefully can get it sorted, as resetting the password didn't work.

This did not work for me. I was able to reset my password, but I never got an initial registration confirmation email, and yes I checked my junk mail. So missing this step, probably due to their initial server problems:

5. You should have gotten an email when you made the MyPlayer account a few days ago. It has the subject "NBA2K15: Complete your MyPLAYER Account registration.‏" Click the verification link. You should get a message on nba2k.com confirming that your account has been verified.

Seems to leave you completely shit out of luck.

Anybody have any other ideas?

Edit: Nevermind, after logging into https://www.nba2k.com/login and using the password that I reset it to, it worked after that.

Tried it, no luck. It says that my account has been authenticated, but in-game, it's still showing up as expired. I'll just have to wait for Support to unlock it, it seems.

Yep, that's what I tried earlier today. As I said, it says my account is already authenticated, went into the game, still get the expired error.

I'm in the same boat as Andrew here, none of the suggestions have worked.

Most annoying is that I cannot create a new account.

I work full time and value the hours I have after work, this is a bit of a soul destroying problem.

I've got a big problem... Why 2K doesn't even send me the mail when I do the forgot password thing?
Edit: and why every link posted on this thread (and the one 2K sent me for the confirmation) send me to motherf*king 2K14 ? I'm so angry right now

Great. Really great. I can't even play a game I precommanded 40€ without losing the 20€ of VC I added. Thanks 2K, I appreciate it. Better play Shadow of Mordor, at least it works.

I wasn't expecting such a failure on the Online part.... But seriously, this is a mess! I simply don't understand, how you can make such a good game, and fail to ensure that the online will work correctly at the release date! Looks like amateur have done this part!

Hope they'll move their ***** quickly to resolve this.

Postby BLaZiNgSPEED on Sat Oct 18, 2014 6:18 am

My game arrived yesterday. I didn't get this Expire Account Error problem. Mine worked fine registering with the email address of the same 2K Account Username. I also unlocked the MVP Bonus Pack without problem.

However, I ran into a new problem after that. Whenever I try to login to nba2k.com. I get a "The website cannot display the page" "HTTP 500 Internal Server Error" This is definitely not a coincidence. Because before I registered the My Player Account with the email address of for my NBA 2K BLaZiNgSPEED username. The login to the website was successful. But as soon as I registered the email address for My Player in NBA 2K15 I could never login to the https://www.nba2k.com/
It displays with an error. Interestingly this doesn't happen with the other 2K Account with the same username that ends with an 89.

Anyway, this doesn't cause any problems in game. I can play properly in game also played yesterday an online game which I won. So I don't have the expiry account error. Except the problem with the website not being able to login anymore ever since. Very bizarre...

All working again for me, after support unlocked my account. If all else fails, hit them up with your Steam ID.

Are U tryin' to login using the old username or email address? I faced with this issue when my account was blocked despite the letter from 2K after first registration in 2K15 that my email is updated and no other actions are needed. But I had the same issue only when I tried to login using email address. With my old username 'Max MBox' the site logs me in pretty fine and I reactivete this acc for 2K15 usin' https://www.nba2k.com/social/link page after login.

Yep I have the same issue when trying to login with the email address of the existing account in which I used for creating the My Player. I went to that link a few days ago before I ordered the game, to make sure I verify it & it did verify successfully. So then I had the luck to login before creating the MyPlayer Account with the existing email address. I made sure to do that after reading these posts here. That way I didn't run into the problem with Expired Account Error.

But after I had created the My Player account using the same email address in which I initially managed to login prior to creating the My Player Account, it wouldn't let me login again in the nba2k website. But interestingly if I do try to type in the username in the email field instead of the email address of that very same account, then it logs me in fine! I think the system on the website got bugged after the in game My Player account creation using the same email address.

In essence what happens is that we aren't really creating a new account. We are just creating a My Player account name by registering an email address for it in game. Since it doesn't even ask us to enter a password for the account creation in game. But strangely this then causes you to not be able to login to your old 2K account with that same email address from the website. But at least this doesn't cause us a problem in game.
