How do people get assists

Wed Oct 15, 2014 5:51 pm

Im really struggling to get assists atm in this game, playing a pass first point guard for me appears to just be lots of missed shots and turnovers! Any tips or suggestions on how to get more assists?

ive been playing since 2k11 an i really enjoy being an assist stuffer. Also my passer rating is 95 but i dont know how to get the dimer badge

Play smarter. Use plays. Check your offensive points of emphasis.
There's really nothing else to it.

Look for open men, when you drive in traffic. If you pull a double team, pass out to the open man.

If someone sets a pick, watch out for the roll. If he's open, throw the pass.

Learn your plays and teammates. You'll find the opportunities for assists.

Those are fairly standard pieces of advice and things i usually do but i struggle awfully now with turnovers and the CPU players missing all the shots anyway!

Maybe its just me but last year and the previous years i could easily average 12 per game or more now it's like 6 and 6 turnovers!

Traditionally, an effective (but admittedly cheap) way of padding stats as a pass-first point guard is to make sure you have the ball in your hands as the shot clock is winding down, then flick it over to one of the team's best perimeter shooters so that they can fire up a shot.

What I do:
Call for a pick
Make him roll
Pass to him or since sometimes they double team you from the side while denying the ball from your big man, pass it to the wing
bang

or like Andrew said, pass it to a teammate with the shotclock winding down

Pick and Roll is less OP than last years, for me at least, it doesn't really work, or it's maybe Jefferson who's stupid... The best ways to do it (for me again) is to go for the layup and pass to an open man at 3pts when his defenser go on you. Or just pass to the center, half of the time he will take a stupid shot, but it goes in sometime :)

In real life, the professionals practice the commonly known things over and over and over. It's boring, but practicing the known techniques will result in success.

Indeed. But I believe the OP is asking for some advice on techniques that they can then obviously practice and hone.

A good away is beat the defender off the dribble, attack the basket and the big guy is going to try to defend your layup, leaving his man open.

Thanks for all the replies. I do believe i do most of whats said but i guess im maybe forcing the issue somewhat and thats where the turnovers come from.

Does anyone know exactly how to get the dimer badge? Is it a certain number of assists overall or do i need to hit a high mark in one game?

This! When I'm specifically looking for assists, the turnovers start to pile up. I start to think that those 50/50 balls are easy passes because I want the assist. When I'm "going with the flow" I'll get to the double digits in most of the games, but there are games where it's just not happening. In that light 2k15 is much more realistic than 2k14, and the game is generally a bit more difficult than previous installments.
