Talk about NBA 2K15 here.
Sat Oct 11, 2014 7:32 am
Hi guys,
I am having a huge problem with NBA 2K15. I am clicking play on Steam but the NBA2K15.exe stops just after it starts.
Can't be a problem with my PC because I am well in the recommended specs.
ATI Radeon R9 270X
Intel i7 4x3,4 GHz
6 GB RAM
I am letting steam check the game files as we speak.

Run steam in offline mode then launch the game.

I have tried this, doesn't work. I have also tried running steam in Admin mode, still won't help.
Also my Graphics drivers are up to date.

Try disabling Steam Overlay for 2k15. Right click it in your library and go to properties then uncheck it

Strangely this doesn't work either.
I have also installed the DirectX and C++ packages that are within the folder. Still the game will not start.

Shit, I don't know what to tell you both of those things helped me. Reboot your comp?
Sat Oct 11, 2014 8:23 am
Obviously did try that. This is so strange. Maybe someone can post a picture of the NBA 2K15 main folder with its file sizes so I can compare it with mine just in case something went wrong in the installation.
Could it be a problem because I installed it on my D:// patition of my hard drive?

Do you get any error codes or does it just kick you back to the desktop?
Sat Oct 11, 2014 8:41 am
It just kicks me back to my Desktop.

I have tried everything that people suggested to me on Reddit and here and nothing works.
Why does the game just refuse to start? I just cannot explain that.
OS is Win7 Home Premium 64 Bit by the way.

I have already checked the game files with a friend who has the game and they are all correct with the correct filesizes.
I really hope I do not need to reinstall the game since this would mean a 15 hour download.

Then try to copy-paste thoose files if is possible.
Some other think you can do is to creed a another acount on your pc and try from there to play the game.

Same problem here. Game does not start. It has either a) crashed immediately b) crashed after the team logo screen c) crashed 10 seconds after that in the edit player screen. Tried steam offline, reinstalling vid drivers and directx, disconnecting internet so game cannot access 2k servers. Nothing works.
I'm blaming this on my shitty Radeon 4850 crossfires. They run new AAA titles well (when it works) but stinking AMD has stopped supporting the card even though it is still listed as acceptable by most new titles. I'm using 1 1/2 year old drivers cause those are the last ones AMD put out that will support my card. Last time I ever buy AMD. You cannot stop supporting a card until it becomes below the 20th percentile of performance between minimum specs and latest and greatest. They don't even have Win 8.1 drivers for them. WTF?

I have now tried updating my Windows with no successful result. Game still does not start.

You try to create another user acount on your windows and try to play the game from the new acount?

same problem here. just re-installed windows (64bit), got new drivers, and game freezes at date of birth screen or crashes into desktop after intro... i'm starting to wonder is nba 2k15 waste of money for me :/ because what is the puropse of buying unplayable game?

Yes I did try that.

I had to run Steam in offline mode for 2K15 to start. This made it impossible to connect to download the roster update.
During a game, Steam interrupted (took me out of the game back to the desktop) with a message. It couldn't install an update, because there wasn't enough disk space.
I uninstalled Steam from the tiny OP Sys partition. I had already installed NBA 2K15 on the larger partition. I reinstalled Steam to the larger partition.
Now NBA 2K15 launches with Steam online, and I can connect to download the roster update.

I have now completely redownloaded the game and it still won't start. Can Jao or Leftos confirm that 2K are aware that there is an issue that many PC users cannot start the game?

Are you sure you have Service Pack 1 installed for your Win7?
Also, could you go to Event Viewer (open start menu and type 'event' into search field, program called Event Viewer should pop up), Go to Windows Logs>Application section and look if there's any details for that crash (note the time of the crash)?

Yes I do have SP1 installed and there is no trace of NBA 2K15 in the Event Viewer.

OK, that's little bit weird.
What is your disk usage?
Do you use any anti-virus protection?
Could you disable your anti-virus and firewall, try to revalidate game files via steam (in steam library right click on the game, click properties and find verify game cache button) and then try to start the game?
Mon Oct 13, 2014 10:58 pm
I have 387 GB free on my C drive and 280 GB free on my D drive where the Game is installed. I have already tried running the game with my Avast anti-virus disabled and I also had Steam verify the game files.
