What really worries me most is that Vlad has the files since a few days ago and still hasn't said anything... :miserable:

Nothing is unmoddable, if we have the great reverse engineers.

I would love to have a look at the files but as kevinParker has stated they are pretty large. I don't think anyone wants to waste their time uploading the files and also where would they upload them to?

I don't have the game, and do not plan on purchasing until I seem some signs of hope with servers or modding. There is no reason to purchase the game if I can't go online or mod it. I mean I could just keep playing my 2k10,2k12, 2k13, and 2k14. I personally thought 2k14 was boring after about 2 weeks of playing, then I started working on HS mod. Then demo became available for college mod, and most importantly when HAWK23 began releasing UBR for 2k14! The mods gave new life to 2k14.

I'm sure 2k15 is a great new experience without mods but for PC gamers playing the vanilla, out of box version of the game for more than a few months seems to be a waste of computing power. If the online servers were up to par it might be worth forgetting modding temporarily but from what I have read from PC gamers and seen in online videos I don't see much online interaction for PC gamers.

I really want this game to be successful, but I also really want it to work properly and to mod it.
I hope there is someone that can throw us PC guys a life line and point us in the right direction for modding.

Exactly what i think (Y) where would they upload them to? theres a lot of Free hosting to upload larger files as theres also a lot of nice people that would help not like someone who post to say nothing :D

It will be a pain in the Ass. Unpacking and Packing all the Files. I hope the Playerfaces etc are not in one of the 10GB Files, that would take ages to Pack/Unpack all the time. But ther eis a way to unpack all these Files and make the Game work unpacked.

Yeap, but it will take some time to make it moddable.

Re: Is NBA 2K15 unmoddable?

Well the game is slightly "moddable" in that you can run SweetFX and nVidia Inspector with it to improve visuals. The nVidia Inspector self-shadowing mod for 2k13 actually helps a little bit with 2K15 since the vanilla shadows are very light.
As far as actually being able to change/replace game assests, it looks like it's gonna be a pain to implement and a while before we're able to. Looks like it's gonna take a lot of hex editing since the files look to be pre-compiled and then broken up into similarly-sized chunks, so I'd imagine we'd need a decompiler/recompiler tool similar to what the game uses, but what do I know.

If anything it may have to be done using the same method that was used to change the music tracks in 2k13

unmoddable? I think no.
It's the same story to Nba2k9...nba2k9 modding was a new discoveyr and now it's the same: need a new discovery. In 2k13 ( I think to remember right...) decompression files was different and Ariel discovered the solution. Need only time...

btw..2k made a great work on players and game presentation...but in stadium and courts (N)

kinda what was expected.. modding completly back to zero

i have faith that our modders will try their absolute best... but it seems really hard unless we get a modding tool that can accsess the files easier.. the Devs likley wont give us one.. so propably someone has to develop one

Most likely the 1GB files will be split up into more manageable files sizes for downloading, such as 10 x 100MB files or 5 x 200MB files.

It is conceivable that 2k will release some graphic updates during the season. Reverse engineering those updates may be the key to figuring out the file formats and how to apply custom graphics.

If I recall correctly Vlad has often waited for the first 2K roster update to see how the rosters work.

Hi
I am working on the archives for 2 days now, i am planning to write an explorer for this. The archives contain tons of normal zip files using LZMA compression as well as some gzip files using lzma compression.

I know how to extract both of them, but the dds files i got are really really unpleasant.

I was hoping that i could find my way easily on the files and get to the 3d files which i am really really interested to reverse, but then these textures came up

Image

ALL files have their proper dds headers but they cannot show properly nowhere. At least in the tons of different software that i used (including a custom made opengl texture viewer)
I guess it will need many more than that to first properly decode the textures and then get them back ingame

Got exactly to the same place, each big file has a lot of zipz inside, I had to select the hex of each zip and create a new file just to see what's inside. The DDS seem to have some compression in them.

You underestimate a modder's willpower.

Nothing is a waste of time. Where there is a will, there is a way.

I'll upload a file today for you to look at. I've also considered uploading the same sample file to Xentax to see what those guys can do.

Also, for everyone attempting to crack the file system, consider that this is a Directx 11 game. There are hardly any tools that work or mods that work. TexMod won't work on DX11 games, for example.

Since 2K9, we've always had a Directx 9 game, so by default some things will be harder to mod. For one, I know that this game uses a LOT of 3D assets.

Good to hear that Bro , i was wondering that the modding community becomes selfish and dead

Delivered. I don't want to break forum rules, since it's an original game file. I love the community too much ;)
