Let me be clear. Sounding 'black' does not equal criminal. This whole "of the flesh" rhetoric is a way on attempting to put a pseudo-intellectual face on a patently racist philosophy. Language is not right or wrong it doesnt define ethics or morality. Its a way of vocally expressing ideas, thats it. If you have issue with ones way of speaking and think someone is below you or less intelligent because of it , then you are displaying YOUR ignorance and intolerance.
I was raised in a neighborhood of intelligent hardworking honest people, who also happen to speak in ebonics. My grandmother was a doctor my grandfather was a detective. My dad was an engineer my mother was a pricipal. And you, my good sir, are an idiot.
And dis is all I'll say about dat.

What's racist about finding that the voices sound like that of a black person? I don't think anyone here is taking an issue with the way a person is speaking, just that it would be nice to have more variety. Black people do have their own lingo, just like white people, Hispanics, Asians... The funny thing is, you just called it "Ebonics" yourself.capwulf wrote:This is a disgusting thread. 1) You're confusing cultural norms and racial norms. If a black person, a white person, a Hispanic person and an Asian person were to live within 1 block from each other, there's an 80% chance that they'd actually talk with the same kind of speech.
2) To be a bit more pedantic, saying someone "sounds like a black person" implies that they are suddenly less of a black person if they don't speak like that, even if they are visibly black.
And then there's the problem with the original post.

I'm not confusing anything really. It's a simple fact that most black people talk a certain way. I live in a very mixed neighborhood, and the black people talk different than the white people. So do the muslims, Americans/Canadians/Australians and so forth. If I hear a white person talking like the MyPlayer voices, I will say that that white person talks like a black person. If a black person talks like Hispanic person, I will say that that black person talks like a Hispanic person. Nothing racial about that at all, unless you like to pull out the race card for everything.Troyork wrote:Nightfly67 wrote:What's racist about finding that the voices sound like that of a black person?

First, don't think that using the word "most" exempts what you said from being a stereotype in addition to being an anecdotal fallacy. Second, can you tell me where I can find this fact in my anthropology textbook?Nightfly67 wrote:If I hear a white person talking like the MyPlayer voices, I will say that that white person talks like a black person. Recap: you literally mentioned race in both of those scenarios then said there's nothing racial about this. You also are saying that I am pulling out the race card because of something you explicitly said about race. Just want to get this clear.Nightfly67 wrote:Your second point is quite racially motivated.
You say that as if this discussion is not about race.
