Talk about NBA 2K15 here.

ok, so these are thinngs made on pc which still can't run nba 2k15 (reposted):
- Tried to run the game in Steam offline mode or with my internet unplugged (this seems to work for a lot of people that can't launch it while online, but it didn't fix anything for me).
- Made sure that my Nvidia drivers were the latest version (344.11, as of this writing). Also uninstalled my GPU altogether and reinstalled it along with the drivers with a clean setup.
- Tried setting the game's .exe to run as administrator.
- Tried reinstalling the latest versions of DirectX.
- Tried reinstalling the latest versions of C++ redistributable.
- Tried reinstalling the latest versions of .NET Framework.
- Tried verifying the game's cache several times.
- Tried reinstalling Steam altogether.
- Tried disabling my Anti Virus software when executing or installing the game.
- Tried deleting the game from my library and redownloading it altogether, then installing it again.
- Tried forcing V-Sync and Triple Buffer from the Nvidia Control Pannel.
- Tried creating a .cfg file with other people's settings in the required path.
- Tried replacing my .dll files with those of somebody else that has been able to play.
- Tried deleting the Steam folder at C/ProgramData
- Restarted Steam and my computer about 50 times.
- Made sure my version of Windows is updated.

Some people had better results with win8.1 (for some reason beyond me).
It could be some old driver for god knows what that's making trouble.
As reinstalling whole OS is kinda overkill solution, especially if you don't know if it's gonna run anyway...
Maybe you could create a virtual machine (via VirtualBox for example) where you would make clean install of Win7 SP1 or Win8.1 and try installing the game and need-to-run drivers and stuff (use Steam Backup function to avoid redownloading the whole thing)?
If it runs, the problems is somewhere between the game and your os. If it doesn't I'm out of ideas for now.

I did everything that bloodkat did too and still does not work. I have to accept that this game does not support my two crossfire 4850 Radeons. Which is a damned shame because the two of them still run a lot of games very well. Problem is that scummy AMd refuses to support the cards with driver updates. Last driver for them was from 2013. Amd can kiss my ass; I will not be buying an AMD card from now on. You can't stop supporting a 4 year old card to force us to buy a new vid card for the new games.
I have no choice but to upgrade and buy an Nvidia video card that is equivalent to my previous setup.

Hey there. I'm the one who posted that list in my Steam Community Thread:
http://steamcommunity.com/app/282350/di ... 884984818/Just landed here while looking for more answers over the web. Can confirm that nothing of that fixed the game for me and I'm experiencing the exact same problem described in this post. My system is well above recommended requirements and all my drivers are up to date. For days and counting and I still haven't been able to launch NBA 2K15 once. I'll keep checking here with you guys if anything comes up.

At this point, what can we do other than hope that 2k comes up with a patch? I just ordered a new video card (dammit! I had to get another AMD card; it was just too cheap compared to the same performing Nvidia card.) If it ends up working, I'll re post back here.

The sam ething happened to me and I just installed directx from NBA 2K15 installation folder and everything is ok now.

I can only suggest that you contact 2K support.
Wed Oct 15, 2014 5:22 am
I've already contacted 2K support and they haven't helped in the slightest.

I don't even bother. 2k and Steam don't give a crap about individual users. The same canned responses all the time. I contacted Steam about transferring the game to my friend's account who can actually run the game and, after 7 days, they emailed me back a canned response copy and pasted from their FAQ. Pissed me off so much - not only are you not responding in time, you're not even responding. I hate digital copy games - in the past, I would have simply given him the CD and we'd be good.

So I spent $156 and bought a new video card from Newegg to replace my two 4850 Radeon Crossfires that AMD stopped supporting with drivers. I knew it was the source of the problem of my 2k15 crashing at the Durant splash screen. (they would not run half the new games I bought - Thief, Call of Duty Ghost) I freaking hate AMD, but at the price, their performance can't be beat by Nvidia. Same equivalent Nvidia card would have run me $210.
Installing the Radeon 280 card: AMD's drivers absolutely suck. Catalyst 14.9 refused to install. Kept crashing. Tried beta 14.9.1. Each time, doing a clean uninstall of the drivers. Finally tried the disk that came with the vid card and it crashed but worked.
And just like that, NBA 2k15 works for me. Ran perfectly fine except that I can only run everything on medium with no anti-aliasing or else the stutter is too annoying. Mind you, this is on a shitty Intel Q6600 processor, 4gb ram, and a Radeon 280 card w 3gb memory. The Radeon 280 gave me a 3dmark score 50% higher than the two 4850's but it really is limited by the 5 year old Q6600 processor.
Simple solution to the 2k crash. Plunk down more cash to buy a new vid card. Curse you 2k and AMD. Built-in obsolescence.

I have an i7 processor, 8 GB of RAM and a GTX 770 2GB from Nvidia. My specs are definitely not the problem here.

Well, nVidia is more expensive for a reason (at least for me)

In my book, purchasing a game for 50 bucks through Steam is a legal copy.

Nexus14, no problem, need to ask, it looks like global issue, not your fault, wait for fix, the only way.

Because once you activate a game to your Steam Library it's yours and can't transfer it to a different account, no wonder support copy-pasted a response from the FAQ, it's basic Steam knowledge if you read the basic Steam FAQs.
Though you can log on to your Steam account using your friend's PC. You'll be sent a verification e-mail as a security measure, once done and you're logged in to the Steam client in your friend's PC you can install the game and play it but only when logging in to Steam using your account and not your friend's.
*Another method is Steam Family Library Sharing. You can authorize your friend's PC and account to have access to your full Steam Library
.*** - Will not work if a copy of 2K15 is locked to one PC/account only, similar to the hassle of reinstalling 2K13 to a different PC.
** - Some games aren't covered by Library Sharing, 2K15 could be one of those.

Well, I knew that much. Was hoping they'd make an exception as I only "played" the game 15 minutes and even then, only because they count starting up the game and crashing as about a minute each time.

Never heard of this. Really? How's the option activated. I doubt 2k15 will be one of these games.

You'd be more likely to get a refund for the game if you bought it through Steam than the chance of it being transferred to another account.
I recall instances of people being refunded (through Steam Wallet) with the particular game being removed from their Steam Library. It's just a matter of convincing support with your reasons that the game you bought is real shitty that makes you unable to play it continuously, like a shitty required online connection even though a game has shitty servers (forgot what game that was) or even a
religious reason, maybe say Durant being the cover player offends your worship of the one true god-king Kobe.

Ahhahaha. Yeah, I think I'm s* out of luck since I bought the CD key from Newegg. I finally got the game to work on my machine anyway by buying a new vid card that had up to date drivers. This game just cost me $60 + $160 to run.

Long shot, but does setting JIT_SHADER_CREATE to 1 in VideoSettings.cfg solve this issue for anyone?
