Uuuuugh that sucks. Why is there only 1 storyline? I wanna play with the high pressure of being the #1 Draft pick.

EXACTLY im kinda pissed but at least the voice has changed but I wanted other storylines,..High Pick, Mid Pick and Undrafted.... BUT this could mean the D-League is back in 2K but I could be wrong.

Awesome.

It's not back.
Tue Sep 23, 2014 6:32 am
But that edge up though?!?!?!
Tue Sep 23, 2014 6:35 am
Well, they got rid of the Rookie Showcase like so many players wanted

How cool would it be to go play to the Euroleague for a few months and then got called back to the NBA?

This is the best use of the "Spoiler" tag of all time.

If you read the title, still click the thread, play the video, and are still upset that you got spoiled, then I don't know what to tell you.

This is great I will finally stop using cheatengine or trying to get an specific grade so I get drafted by my favourite team.

I was being sarcastic. You don't put say
spoiler on a game's opening 2 minutes lol.
Tue Sep 23, 2014 7:53 am
hm im kinda torn
on the one side its a bit sad we are basically "forced" to go undrafted
but on the other side it makes for a unique storyline
and hell.. a fully Voiced Story with Cutscenes in a SPorts game is still great to have!
Tue Sep 23, 2014 8:05 am
Yeah, having a choice would be nice. Even if they let you play the 2K14 storyline as the other choice.
Tue Sep 23, 2014 8:47 am
I think the second voice's Jackson Ellis' voice actor if I hear it correct...

That would be great if they added that scenario to the game.

I don't know. I've been giving MyCAREER in NBA 2K14 another chance, knowing that they'd be unlikely to move away from the somewhat scripted/more pre-determined and storyline driven approach to MyCAREER, and I have to say, I'm warming up to it a bit more. On the other hand, I'm still not a big fan of being locked into a set path, and essentially giving everyone the same experience when it's all said and done, with the same milestones and events.
This does provide an interesting scenario, but my concern with the mode essentially starting in January is that you'll have even fewer games in which to earn VC to boost your player. Given that the VC payouts are pretty stingy to begin with, and the grading system has to date felt biased towards punishing bad play rather than rewarding good play, I can see that being quite frustrating. Still, it is more challenging though, and while that opening custscene is a bit melodramatic, the production values are still outstanding. I'm guessing a lot of people will like it. As for me, I'll give it a try, but I'm guessing I won't be into it as I was with NBA 2K13. No big deal I suppose, with MyGM and MyLEAGUE looking so awesome.

SO if the D-League isn't back then I have a lot of questions...and those will be answered Oct 7th Since I will be paying it off early.

How? The 30 games you play (theoretically) reward you the same VC. Whether you join the team in November or January doesn't change that.
Actually scratch that, because what DOES matter is that you get into your second season sooner, and you get to Key-game earlier. In fact, this technically means you can possibly get MORE VC sooner.

Kind of disappointed you start out this way and only 1 set way I think there should be multiple paths
- Number1 draft pick can you handle the pressure and live up to the hype
- Top 5 - top 10 draft picks
- Mid first round
- late first round to early 2nd round
- Late second round
- Undrafted
- Preseason/Summer League
- Overseas Leagues
the opening scene does look visually better though in terms of production and I'm glad there is a small variety in player voices. I really hope there is more depth though after season 1 in 2K14 not a lot happens and I agree with Andrew the shortened first season does limit your VC collecting to improve skills and ratings. I will give it a try but if it feels stale or cheapened I will most likely just play MyLeague mode.

Fewer games means fewer opportunities to earn VC. The game-to-game payouts may be the same as always, but the overall total will be lower with fewer games in which to accumulate VC.
Of course, whether or not this is problematic depends on a few factors: how challenging you want the game to be, whether or not there's been any change to VC payouts and the cost of upgrades, and whether you normally play every game, or prefer the "key game" option. In years past, I've found the rookie season to be something of a grind to get your rating up to something respectable; to that end, I favour the opportunity to play as many games as possible, and not skip any.
Even putting all that aside, I'm still iffy about MyCAREER being linear. I like the idea a little more than I used to, but I still don't think it's ideal. I also think the grading system needs some work, because as I said, it's biased towards punishing mistakes than rewarding good play. Having said all that though, I can appreciate the production values and the work that's gone into it, and will give it a try to see how I like it.

those paths should be in the game, i'd like to come to the nba from an overseas league tho. It's kinda disappointing that we all are gonna experience the same path.

Could somebody who has played MyCareer in next-gen 2K14 please give us PC players a broad overview of what it was all about? To me it sounds like after the first season there was really nothing else to do? So the RPG elements basically end after the first season? In the PC version you could talk to the GM in a very limited way, but not your manager, agent, teammates or anybody else. I keep hearing about this Ellis guy. Was he a teammate? Or a rival? Andrew, maybe you could answer this since it would still be fresh in your mind? Particularly if you played both versions.
Tue Sep 23, 2014 3:32 pm
Arcane's played more of the mode, so he could probably give you a better rundown than I can.
Tue Sep 23, 2014 3:38 pm
Saw some ChrisSmoove's vids 2K14 Next Gen, Jackson Ellis is your rival. Gets drafted ahead of you.
