NBA 2K15 Sales Numbers?

Postby ColumbusBobby23 on Thu Oct 30, 2014 9:27 am

Does anyone have any information on how 2K15 did on the PC this year in regards to sales?

I found this article: http://www.vg247.com/2014/10/29/take-tw ... -are-beat/

NBA 2K15 was the highest-rated sports game released this year on PlayStation 4, according to the firm, and had the strongest launch in the history of the series with first week sell-in and sell-through across all platforms.

So apparently this was the best year for the series to date. But I'm wondering if the PC has been able to bridge some of the gap between the PC and consoles sales that we've seen in the past.

If MyPARK is any indication, the gap has not been bridged. I'm sure it sold more than 2K14 or 2K13 on PC, though.

In terms of the PC and console userbases, it's less bridging the gap and more building an elevator to the moon; PC basketball gaming is a niche of a niche.

When you compare PC to consoles as a whole, the difference is going to be vast. But if you compare it to a single platform I'm sure it gets a little more respectable. Like PC vs PS4 or PC vs XB1. But I guess the only thing that really matters is whether PC sales met, exceeded or fell short of 2K's expectations.

The problem is that PC gamers are generally more hardcore than the average gamer, and sports gamers are generally less casual than the average gamer. That doesn't mix well.

Even limited to a single platform, I don't think the PC's sales are going to come close. As long as they're sufficient for 2K to keep releasing a PC version though, it's all good.

I think that compared to the last year's PC version, there must be a significant difference.

That was my conclusion as well.

More hardcore and less casual aren't opposites.

http://store.steampowered.com/stats/
The 24 hour peak is:
Code: Select all
4,063       NBA 2K15

This is higher than past 2K's on PC, though that's probably because those didn't require Steam.

Not doing as well as:
Code: Select all
13,274       Farming Simulator 15

Farming Simulator is no Goat Simulator.
