Talk about NBA 2K15 here.

Ok, i want to copy/paste my whole game from desktop to laptop. You downloading 45GB is not funny. Is there any way? Copy folder NBA2K15 from C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\ paste same place into my laptop. Activate NBA 2k15 via steam, and what next? or first activate, later copy/paste? Is there some verification option or something?
I know we cant share our files outside steam, but is this possible for one steam account? If i create roster or draft class file on my desktop and save it as local, i cant load up this roster on my desktop, with the same steam account?
Thx in advance for your help.

Well this assuming you already have a few games installed on your laptop. What you need to do is copy your 2k15 folder into the steamapps folder on your laptop. Then you fire up steam and select NBA 2k15, select install, and it will begin to verify the files already in your folder. And then it should recognize all your files and be able to play.
(Note: I have done this before, worked most of the times but failed once with a particularly big game so you never know)

just copy the nba 2k15 folder in the steamapps folder. then do what UrbanRival said. LOL. it wouldnt take long to verify files in the folder. trust me im doing this a lot on my dota 2 and some other games on my steam,

Use Steam's backup and restore functions.

So no matter is it our shared roster or local roster file, all of them are attached to our steam profile. Because of this im worry about offline distribution of our modded rosters or draft classes files. I dont think patch can change this.

it sucks big time, it's very console-ish but nevermind that it sucks for offline sharing here on nlsc like we used to share all kinds of different rosters from different seasons, all-time great rosters so now all of that goes through online sharing and if you find yourself temporarily without internet you cannot transfer it from another pc, borderline stupid decision even though i own maybe like 15 games on steam, i don't like it all i remember times when we played mw2, mw3, black ops and then all of sudden server crashes (on black ops) or steam went offline made you unable to play until it reconnects (on mw2, mw3) it's really bad decision they made these saves online only

I don't think it's something that they consciously decided to do, it's probably a by-product of it being a PS4/X1 port.
If there's any way for them to patch out the encryption then that would be most welcome, but I guess it remains to be seen if that's possible (and even then, if it will happen). It's frustrating because of the way we're accustomed to sharing custom rosters for the PC version, but it's not like it's something they did to intentionally screw us over or anything.

That you know of.

I don't buy into paranoid conspiracy theories, or the notion that developers are evil and trying to put one over gamers in the most petty ways. NBA 2K15 PC is a port of the PS4/X1 versions, and all three versions are connected to a client/network: Steam, Xbox Live, and the PlayStation Network. It makes sense that there's encryption in the PC saves this year, it's just unfortunate given the way we've traditionally distributed custom rosters. I think we've made our dissatisfaction with the arrangement known, hopefully something can be done about it. We can but wait and see.

Well, speaking of this...

Just out of curiosity, and I'm not trying to be provocative or anything, it's an honest question: Do other games that support the Steam Cloud allow you to share saves between accounts? Has anyone tried using one of their friends' saves from another account on their account on a Steam Cloud game and it worked?

Leftos, Probably no, but you know, no1 here treat roster file as save file. This is why people will complain.
For me, sharing via 2k servers is not a big problem, but this way causes problem with editing roster file outside the game. THIS IS BIG PROBLEM.

Yeah, we will explore different ways of handling rosters in the future.

Leftos, u mean 2k16 ?

Not up to me, I don't work on that part of the game. I've forwarded the community requests, but I don't know if it's something we can patch.

Based on what I read so far it wouldn't work.
Usually when you copy-paste a save file to a game's save folder (either shared save folder or account separate save folders) or the local save files are different from those in Steam Cloud, Steam will show a pop up window reminder before loading the game asking the user if it wants to use the Clould saved files or keep using the locally saved files, I haven't read that happening to the users trying to copy saved files so far.
The save files seem to be 'locked' to the specific Steam profile that created it like someone mentioned.
