CPU Trade Logic

Sat Oct 11, 2014 4:04 pm

I just started a new MyGM and because obviously I hate my life, I chose the Lakers. My owner set the goal of getting a 1st round pick, so I figured the first order of business is to see if I can control my own Draft destiny and get my 2015 1st rounder back from Phoenix (estimated #7).

I popped this into the Trade Finder with the Phoenix Suns and they offered me my 2015 1st Rounder (Expected #7) + PJ Tucker (newly re-signed 2yr deal) for Houston's 2015 1st Rounder (estimated #25) + Jeremy Lin (remember Phoenix already has Bledsoe, Dragic & Thomas).

Trade logic is a big thing for me as an Association junkie. This felt a bit too easy - even though it meant taking on Tucker's 5.5m for 2015-201, so....

To make matters worse, I thought I'd see what I could get for Tucker. New Jersey offered me Boston's 2017 1st Rounder (I think this is a mistake as they should only have Boston's 2nd Rounder) + Jarrett Jack (similar $$$ as Tucker) for LAC's 2nd Rounder + PJ Tucker

I've tried using MyLeague and adjusting the Trade Negotiation Difficulty and seen no effect (http://forums.nba-live.com/viewforum.php?f=157). Anyone else had more luck?

What's the best offer you've received?

Is it possible the goal influences the offers teams make?

Yeah, I've been trying to find a pattern or logic to it. I'm guessing this is just the simulator's attempt to approximate some of the real-life bonehead moves.

I started another simulation as New York and promplty checked what the Suns wanted for Goran Dragic (84 rating). They demanded my 2016 1st-Rounder, Iman Shumpert and Andrea Bargnani.

I think this made a lot more sense on their part. Trade away an expiring deal for one of their point guards (the oldest) in exchange for improving a position of need (wing/SG) and getting what's likely to be a high draft pick.

In the real-world, this probably never happens, but in the game's reality, this makes good sense.
