Physical Copy

Postby burter on Thu Oct 09, 2014 10:43 am

Are there no physical copies of the game anymore? I preorder from gamestop (the only game I ever preorder from them) and when I went in today it was the steam download version, so I cancelled it. They said it should have been a physical copy and not sure why it's steam download version. Could it be that 2k does not sell physical copies anymore? And if they do where can I buy one? thanks all.

Damn. Well that kind of sucks. I do like having the physical copy. I understand everyone is trying to go away from physical copies, but I do like having the copies. Oh well. Guess I will just buy off steam. Thanks all for the quick replies.

Digital only  I wanted the disc version... I almost gave in to the pre-order.The more I wait it out... the more reality sets in. The year was always going to be full of uncertainty with this next gen version of the game.

Hopefully we can find a way to make a breakthrough

Well i don't know about you guys, but in Australia/New Zealand they sell physical copies of the game where you can integrate it with steam after installation from the DVD!

I'm getting my copy tomorrow or monday, i'm assuming 1 or 2 disks inside although I don't know. I gave all the retailers in my area who were selling 2k15 for PC a ring and they all said it was a DVD inside..

I'm sceptical, as they also sold "physical copies" in the US, which turned out to be codes on cardboard. I've already bought digital and pre-loaded on Steam, but it'll be interesting if there is a DVD release. I kind of doubt we'd be the only ones to get it, though.

I called up this store https://shop.jbhifi.co.nz/game/pc-games ... 2k15/79698 and they confirmed it, also read the IBM

went to ebgames about 30mins ago to buy a physical copy and they only have the codes. this is a poor move by 2ksports imo. not everyone has the available bandwidth to download 30gb.

now i know why the pc version is $10 cheaper than xbox and ps4

i'm in australia btw

One point I was thinking about in regards to a physical copy.

In order to offer a physical copy they would either have to offer 6 Dual Layer DVD's or release on Bluray.

Then you run into the issue of not everyone has a Bluray drive to handle the install. And somehow 6 discs would just be cost prohibitive.

So after reasoning it out I suppose digital was the only certain way to get it out there, but then I would imagine not everyone has broadband either. So maybe they could or did offer for select situations a hard copy option.

I was after lower price and the box for my shelf. Couldn't give a rat's ass about the disc, I don't have an optical drive for few years now.
