Playbooks

Sat Jan 31, 2015 2:05 am

Hi guys, I'm not sure this is the right section since this problem of mine could relate to any NBA 2K game and also applies to the Live series (as far as I could imagine since I don't own a console)
Sometimes, during a game, I'd like to try a play I have in mind , for example I think about moving the SF there in the corner and the PG to cut to the basket etc.... but since no NBA 2K or Live game allow for a "Create a play" (a la Madden) I have to browse through hundreds of pre-made plays, find a similar one, then add it to my playbook , then start a play, and pause lock to one player whose movement is not exactly what I wanted and take control and modify on the floor the play the way I want it to be..... did anyone of you have this same frustration and desperately miss a proper "Create a play" feature? And, missing that, how do you cope trying to make a play similar to the one you have in mind? You also lock to one player after having searched the entire database for a play that is similar at what you have in mind? Or is there somewhere to be found a playbooks database where one can search (outside the game) for a play he likes and then tries to implement it in the game.
In my opionion this playbooks topic hasn't been discussed enough in the Basketball Gaming Community and should be analysed better since it's a key aspect of any Basketball game, coaches keep modifying their plays and surely won't settle for the thin playbooks set you can find in these games.

This year, even the "sent teammate to cut" action does not work. Worst bug for me. I haven't play MY GM mode but there might be an option there where you edit the playbook and create a play/find the most similar play. But again, I am just assuming. Other than that, there are people out on android and IoS market posting books at around 10 bucks or so. They spent tens of hours analysing every team's plays, writing about them and how they look like, deciding what plays are gold and which ones are useless, providing tips when to use particular plays, etc. Most people do not even use plays or just use the "smart play". The rest of us learned the basic plays for some teams and we use them when we have to. It is not that difficult because some of the names gives us a hint about how the players will move on the court with a minimal difference. As a summary, there might be an option in my GM mode. If not, the best solution would be to learn by heart a team's playbook so you can choose similar plays to what you have in mind, but this is ridiculous and I wouldn't do it even if there was a NBA 2K world championship and the grand prize would be 10 million dollars.

Thanks for your reply, I will have a look in GM Mode if there's some option to look for a specific play..... and yes I was also quiet upset that this year they removed the send team mate to cut option..... just pity. Anyway let's see if other will share here their experience about playbooks and if they also miss the option to customize plays.....
