GnG NBA Jam Mod V6 out now! **refinements made to settings**

Postby GritterAndGrinder on Sun May 24, 2015 1:29 am

BIG thank you to everyone who has downloaded these. It's a blessing to know someone is out there enjoying my work besides me.

Mod includes expansion roster, association roster, glowing ball (made by michaelvlutz49), and settings tailored to make the game feel similar to the run-and-gun, hack-a-player style of NBA Jam. The rosters run off of the UBR cyberfaces, jerseys, courts, etc. So if you currently have UBR V39 or later, you're good to go. However, you don't have to use the roster. These settings will give any roster from any mod an NBA Jam-type gameplay. Note: My download does not contain any UBR files. You MUST download UBR for the roster to work. The UBR 1994 roster was used as the base for this roster and most of the teams on it were designed by the UBR developers. I do not wish to take credit for their work, and likewise this roster should be seen as an expansion roster for UBR, rather than a standalone original work.

Roster:
(all teams include only 10 players and the free agency is the '94 free agents plus those removed from the '94 teams to bring them down to 10. All teams' main jerseys are classic jerseys and all the current jerseys available have short shorts.)

NBA Jam 2k15 teams:
All 30 teams from 2015
All 27 teams from '94

'94 West and East All-Stars
'93 Bulls, Celtics, Nets, Pistons, and Suns
'93 "What If" Barkley Bulls and Jordan Blazers
'95 Magic, Spurs, Mavs, Pistons, and Bulls
'95 "What If" C-Webb Magic and Pippen/Drexler Sonics
'96 Grizz and Raptors
*Legendary Jammers
**Secret Players
---------------------------------------
additional teams:
NEW 16 "Cheat Code" teams (Cavs, Celtics, Clippers, Bulls, Grizzlies, Hawks, Lakers, Mavs, Nets, Pacers, Pelicans, Pistons, Rockets, Spurs, Thunder, and Warriors)
'01 Bucks
'01 "What If" Duncan Magic
'03 76ers, Celtics, Clippers, Hawks, Hornets, Kings, Lakers, Magic, Mavs, Nets, Pacers, Rockets, Sonics, TWolves, Blazers, and Wizards
'04 Pistons, Raptors, and Spurs
'04 "What If" Melo Pistons and J-Kidd Spurs
'05 Suns
'06 Grizzlies
'08 Celtics
'09 Nuggets
'10 Curry Grizzlies
'76 Flint Tropics
'76 Spurs, Nets, Nuggets, and Spirits.

ABA Legends
90's Legends
2000's Legends
2010's Legends

*team of best dunkers from the NBA Jam era. MJ, Pippen, Barkley, Grant Hill, Malone, Kemp, Spud Webb, Shaq, Rodman, A. Hardaway

**Flight Time, Big Easy, Larry Bird, MCA, Adrock, Mike D, Stretch, Brian Scalabrine, Warren Moon, and Will Smith/Fresh Prince (In Globetrotters uniforms)

Association Roster is a combination of the 1994 and 2015 rosters with the best from both seasons on each team.

Settings:

Ridiculous Vert
Easy to go around defenders
3s slightly easier
offensive rebounds easy
layups go in most every time
***no fouls, only shot clock and goal tending (just like NBA Jam)
CPU plays the passing lanes aggressively and shoots the 3
Sideline Camera similar to NBA Jam
non-severe injury almost every game
3-minute quarters

***for some reason it still counts one type of reach foul when you reach all the way around as they run by. no way to turn this off. also the ball will sometimes go out of bounds to places unreachable. it will either respawn or the shot clock will run out. so no worries. it wont end your game.

ALSO INCLUDES: optional jukebox.bin with all uncensored tracks
tracklist
"Where Da Hood At" by DMX (twice)
"NBA Jam Remix" by Attic Stein (twice)
"Whoop That Trick (movie clip version)" by DJay (twice)
"Hustle and Flow" by DJay
"It's Hard Out Here For a Pimp" by DJay
"Forever" by Drake (and Eminem ONLY)
"Not Afraid" by Eminem
"Best of You" by Foo Fighters
"Running Wild" by Moon Taxi
"Ch-Check It Out" by Beastie Boys
"Too Legit To Quit" by MC Hammer
"Feel Good Inc." by Gorillaz
"I Shot the Sheriff" by Bob Marley and the Wailers
"Rollercoaster of Love" covered by Red Hot Chili Peppers
"You Should Know Better" by Robyn ft. Snoop Dogg
"Too Close" by Alex Claire
"Open Letter To NYC" by Beastie Boys

remember, roster and settings go in saves folder; jukebox and ball go in 2k14 game folder
Download NBA Jam V6 w/ newly refined sliders

"Updated" teams as of 8/10/15

I know for a fact it works in "play now," but I haven't even bothered to test any game modes. It wasn't really made for anything else, but you could try it out. what i'm mainly looking for is suggestions on stuff to add. more teams, tweak the settings, etc. I'm aware of most of the bugs, and have chose to ignore them (players having the wrong logo behind them, white faceless crowds for some teams, other minor things) because they dont have any affect on gameplay. Just PM me an email address and I'll send you the files.

No, that is not a request to be ignored.

On top of any issues with permission and whatnot, it does actually make sense to keep the download size small and utilise existing download packages rather than doubling up for everyone, especially since the UBR assets are commonly downloaded.

Are you the roster creator? Who are u to tell him what he can and can not do? He wast just gving good feedback to the creator, who asked if anyone wanted to try out. So his comment is right on place, yours clearly not.

Well, it's not publicly available, so it's a little difficult for most people to try it out at this present time. I assume that's what 2KShiftLeader meant; let's not jump down each other's throats and assume the worst.

"......On top of any issues with permission and what"not.."

about 70% of the work on UBR are used without permission sometimes even without credit

"......make sense to keep the download size small and utilise existing download packages rather than doubling up for everyone, especially since the UBR assets are commonly downloaded......."

the existing download packages are too big for his work and he will not be doubling it , a lot of people dont download UBR because it makes the folder about 35 gb or more

HAWK23 wrote:Bitter much?

35 GB to have every complete season from 1960-2015 plus a bunch of other specialty mods seems like a pretty nice deal if you ask me - especially when modern computers come with terabytes of space. Did I mention it's all FREE? And the work was all done voluntarily? The users that don't like the UBR gripe because of one of two things: they either have a lousy internet connection for downloads, or have a computer made in the 1990's with limited space - my assumption is you fall into one of those categories. By the way, I have counters on every download part and link associated with the Ultimate Base Roster and statistics say the early parts (the ones that only need to be downloaded once) have been downloaded over 2.8 million unique times PER link (Parts 9 and 10 are way more because you have to download them with new updates). Not 2.8 million views... 2.8 million downloads... PER part.

I take major offense to your comment about work not being custom-made or credited. The UBR team, especially myself, has great relationships with almost every NBA2K modder and have been given the full go-ahead to include it (we ask through PM, E-mail, Twitter, and sometimes by cell phone - so just because you don't see a post publicly asking to use it, doesn't mean we didn't take the necessary means to acquire the permission to include it). In fact, 9 times out of 10, when someone PMs me or contacts me requesting to use UBR files I give them the green light. The times I usually say no are the times like this, when no one bothered to reach out to me and ask.

A lot of the time, it's guys like KingMellow, DwadeFlash, ShawnKemp, Retroman, Nuhmete, Mythbuster, Rich, MGX, RayHoops, Suirad, Bird, BigHort, Meds, and the list goes on and ON and ON who makes the stuff from scratch specifically for the UBR anyway. Once in a while there is a random guy who will send me an art file on PM or FB or Twitter and I will include it, but those occasions account for less than 50 files of the complete download (or less than 1% of a 35GB mod). Feel free to PM me files you claim haven't been given credit and I will either remove them, or show you proof of the modder giving me permission to include it. By the way, the Facebook, Twitter, NLSC info, and my yahoo e-mail address is posted ALL over the internet. I get hundreds of messages each week through those mediums and not ONCE have I ever heard from a modder about their work not being credited or asked to have been used. You're the only one who continues to bring this up from time to time. Feel free to peruse the 225+ pages of the original 2K12 Ultimate Base Roster thread where you can see in real-time/chronological order people who requested and had stuff made, and previewed it for that mod which was ultimately converted for the 2K14 version of the ultimate base roster mod (viewtopic.php?f=143&t=82925). You can see where the mod started from and how it has slowly progressed into the gold standard of sports games mods. People's custom-made/unique creations are littered throughout each page. It's not even worth me addressing further because I believe you're only saying it to be a troll. Go take your negative comments and express them on your own forum if you are so passionate about it: http://nba2kmods.free-forum.net

This is like the 4th or 5th time you have tried to follow me into threads to badmouth the UBR and the hard work that's been put into it. I typically ignore it, but now It's growing tiresome and I had to say something. All I sense is jealousy and bitterness from you. If you need help downloading or installing the mod or something then PM me and I'll be happy to help you. Aside from that, I don't know what to say to have you stop posting this kind of nonsense.

WOAWOAWOAWOAWOah. I leave for like two days and my thread that only had 20 views has turned into Content Ownership Accusation Fest 2015. lol. I had NO INTENTION of posting UBR content as my own. literally my download is only the roster, settings, glowing ball which i don't know who to credit for, and an optional jukebox file i created. I even mentioned in the original post that you'll require UBR V30 or later to use the roster, not only giving credit to the UBR project AND suggesting it as a download, but also implying that i have no intention of uploading 30 gigs just for my small-time mod and passing it off as my own. So all of this could have been avoided if you had just read the OP.

TO ANYONE FLAMING THE UBR PROJECT: I don't know much about their practices in the creation of the UBR, but it is a great mod that i use regularly. The whole thing has been blown out of proportion due to this first comment accusing me of stealing files. If we could all just calm down, I'll have a download link for my mod out soon. I've been busy with my Industrial Design major recently, and haven't had the time to research how to use mediafire or whatever it is.

To those who don't like UBR or would prefer not to take the time to download it if you dont already got it, the settings, ball, and jukebox work with any mod, any roster. Though I suggest using a roster from 93, 94, or 95, as these were the years used for the original versions of the game.

disclaimer: I feel the need to mention that the main thing in this is the roster, which if you dont have UBR, wont work. the settings are something anyone could make with just alittle time on their hands and no modding tools. I've spent quite some time tweaking them and touching them up for a run-and-gun, hack-a-player, almost-every-layup-goes-in style game, similar to how NBA Jam is played, with all the same rules and fouls turned off, but this is still a fairly simple thing anyone could do with some time and doesnt hold as much water as a "mod." it's also worth a mention that some or many of you might not even agree with how i have the settings set up and change them around anyways, which pretty much defeats the purpose of downloading this without UBR, other than giving you a base to start from to build your own settings. So, what I'm trying to say is, Yes, this can be played without UBR on any roster you choose, but It somewhat defeats the purpose of the mod. sorry if this inconveniences anyone who is strongly opposed to using UBR, but I dont possess the abilities nor the time to make all those cyberfaces and jerseys and logos myself, and UBR is the only mod I know of with all the teams I needed/wanted for this roster.

now. update on the roster: I've made all the shorts 90s-style short. because why not. end of update.

And quite frankly this whole nonsense has pissed me off quite a bit. If files are made free to begin with, who gives a damn about giving credit for them? I don't make these for the glory and honor of a bunch of computer gaming junkies like myself, who will never know my real name nor see my face. I make them so there's more content out there for people to enjoy even more the game we all love. Honestly don't care who's work went into UBR. I like the mod, so i play it. that's all i know. If anyone wants to take my roster and make changes to it and post it, I couldn't care less if you credit me. I just want to post it so maybe someone will get enjoyment from playing it or a later incarnation of it. ok? (Y)
