We, PC gamers, know there is a new generation that dwarfs our computers with fancy console exclusive engines, but that does not stop us from enjoying our video games, in fact a lot of console players are jealous, and that’s because we can take our games a lot of step further, with the only limit of our skills… and imagination.

Yeah, it’s like magic. And so we have great retro mods, we can play other basketball leagues, we have very detailed HD courts, updated and accurate faces… And what do you think if I say you can have an animation patch?
NBA 2K14 Animation Patch This patch removes all the duplicated signature shot animations and add
all new animations, emphasizing on giving
realistic animations to the players that have a shot animation with their own name.
Let me show you some of the animations I’m very proud of (with shooting form and shot base between brackets)
Ray Allen [R. Allen, R. Allen]

Ryan Anderson [R. Anderson, R. Anderson]

Carmelo Anthony [C. Anthony, C. Anthony]

Andrea Bargnani [A. Bargnani, A. Bargnani]

Larry Bird [L. Bird, L. Bird]

Chris Bosh [C. Bosh, C. Bosh] (some left handed player could be looking to the side in the edit player screen when using some of the new shooting forms, this happen with Chris Bosh and, as you can see, in game he will be looking to the basket. This happens with Zach Randolph also)

Stephen Curry [S. Curry, S. Curry]

Tim Duncan [T. Duncan, T. Duncan]

Kevin Durant [K. Durant, K. Durant] (You can see his shooting form from last year with this year’s shot base)

Monta Ellis [M. Ellis, M. Ellis]

Patrick Ewing [P. Ewing, P. Ewing]

Danilo Gallinari [D. Gallinari, D. Gallinari]

Kevin Garnett [K. Garnett, K. Garnett]

Pau Gasol [P. Gasol, P. Gasol]

Rudy Gay [R. Gay, R. Gay]

Paul George [P. George, P. George]

Manu Ginobili [M. Ginobili, M. Ginobili]

Blake Griffin [B. Griffin, B. Griffin]

James Harden [J. Harden, J. Harden]

Joe Johnson [J. Johnson, J. Johnson] (His full signature shot animation from older 2K games)

Magic Johnson [M. Johnson, M. Johnson]

David Lee [D. Lee, D. Lee]

Damian Lillard [D. Lillard, D. Lillard]

Brook Lopez [B. Lopez, B. Lopez]

Kevin Love [K. Love, K. Love]

Kevin Martin [K. Martin, K. Martin]

Steve Nash [S. Nash, S. Nash]

Shaquille O’ Neal [S. O`Neal, S. O’Neal]

Tony Parker [T. Parker, T. Parker]

Kemba Walker [K. Walker, K. Walker]

John Wall [J. Wall, J. Wall]

Deron Williams [D. Williams, D. Williams]

You can have Derek Fisher’s sig shot from older 2k games if you use [J. Smith, Jump Shot 4]

Or old Gilbert Arenas signature shot using [Release 78, Set Shot 14]

I think they have done a good job with Kobe’s sig shot this year, but you can assign his shot base from last year using [K. Bryant, Jump Shot 31]

Or you can combine this year’s shot base with a new shot release holding his hand after the shot [Release 68, K. Bryant]

As you can see this patch changes the default animation scheme, so I provide an
Adaptation Sheet to adapt any sig shot combination to the new scheme. Just search for any pre animation patch shooting form or shot release in the left column and find the equivalent animation in the right column. But you don’t need to go player by player in your roster file because I made a .turk file, named
Sig Shot Adapter, that adapts all the shots in any roster file using RED Modding Center. I also include another .turk file called
Sig Shots for the Stars that assigns the corresponding animation to the players with signature shots named after them.
INSTALLATION- Move
siganims_generic.iff to your main NBA 2K14 folder (don’t forget to make a backup of the original file!).
- You need to adapt the roster file you are using to the new animations (otherwise you will find that a lot of players have incorrect animations), to do so you need to use the .turk files with RED Modding Center. To do that put the .turk files (
‘Sig Shot Adapter.turk’ and
‘Sig Shots for the Stars.turk’) into your RED MC \Scripts folder. Start RED MC and open the Roster you want to use (if you have the required RED MC license you can adapt association files too).
- Now, with your roster opened, click on
TURK > Sig Shot Adapter, wait until Status shows ‘Ready’, and you have your roster adapted, every player has the same shot animation he has before the animation patch (except for a few animations that are completely removed to give room for the new ones). You should use this script only one time per roster.
- And you can use the other .turk script to assign the corresponding animation to players with signature shots named after them. Click on
TURK > Sig Shots for the Stars, wait until Status shows “Ready”, and now you have players with their corresponding animations. This script only sets signature shots to players with their corresponding animation by name, as I don’t want it to be very intrusive in your roster.
- If you are looking to a signature shot list and you want to use some of those animations you can use the
Adaptation Sheet, just search the left column for the desired animation to find the equivalent animation to the right. For example, if you want to give a player
Release 1 shooting form and
Jump Shot 17 shot base, you should use
M. Jordan shooting form and
C. Paul shot base.
When I started investigating animation files I didn’t expect to come out with a patch like this, but as my knowledge of the animations format began to grow this patch started to take shape. First I wanted to remove some duplicated animations with new ones (well, actually I should say that my first goal was importing free throw rituals from old games, but quickly my goal became more challenging and I forgot about old rituals, but free throws have been very important because I edited some of them, trying to be as faithful to the reality as possible, to make room for the new animations), not worrying about being realistic, just looking to add new animations, but later I realize that I could improve the patch (and the game) looking for more realism, since the game has some animations with a player name, why not try to make them more realistic? I decided to add new animations, but looking to be very realistic. And this patch is the result of several months of work, I have spent many hours on this, but I have to say it has been very fun, and I am very proud of this patch, it’s just what I wanted it to be when I decided to take this patching project a huge leap forward, and now I’m presenting my work I just want to add one last thing:
Enjoy the patch!
