Dear 2K14 modders,

I'd like to share with you a preview of Callitechnologica, a new PDF magazine for game artists, that will focus on Game Mods. The first issue of Callitechnologica will launch in March. The name is derived from the Greek "Callitechnica" which means Fine Arts and Technology, which means technology :p

The cover above is just a mockup, the final cover will be different and the layout of the magazine quite professional. Callitechnologica will feature news about game modding, interviews with game modders, articles about game art, pictures with gaming vistas, exclusive downloads, news about crowdfunding projects and will also run some exciting contests and also some sponsorships to help support game modders.



We already begin with the NBA2k14 cyberface of the Month contest. The winner will win 5 Euros and his cyberface will advance to the Cyberface of the Year Contest.

Apparently all this is very new, so a) please be lenient if something looks unprofessional and b) feel free to join us! There are plenty of things we could use some help with. Everything I mentioned is covered in detail at the website for the magazine callitechnologica.com

Feel free to post your suggestions, and some of you will be hearing from me shortly to ask you for an interview.

Hello scarface. First of all let me understand exactly what you are saying. Do you mean that a) you will create a new cyberface that I will ask of you and you will make a cover with that cyberface or that b) I will tell you one cyberface that I like that is already released and you will create a cover for that cyberface?

If a) Definitely yes

If b) Also yes

But to both options I have to let you know, I am not 100% certain what will be featured on the cover. I am waiting a response to have an exclusive for a big mod coming out for another game, if we get this exclusive then the main theme of the cover will be for that game. But if you make a new face for the first issue then we could have it like 50/50 that other game and your cf. If it's not a new cyberface it would have to be like 70/30 for the other game IF we get that exclusive. Would you still be interested in doing the cover even if it wasn't only for 2k14?

Thank you Frowardaxl83. It's a pity to read that you quit making cyberfaces, you had some really great work coming out. I hope you will participate in the contest, then you can make like one cyberface per month and maybe win 5 euros for it (or 20 if you win cf of the year).

for now I have retired, even if I already have several, cyberfcace finished to post, but in the future you never know

Scarface already gave away one of the exclusives we will have for the magazine. We will have some more 2k14 exclusives until the release. I just want to request if anyone is interested in refining JohnDoe's and SJ's stadium haze mod.

I am offering:

5 Euros for a proper stadium haze
3 Euros for crowd haze (only change the crowd file)

This is what I would like to achieve in pictures. This is how SJ's stadium haze looks like:



And this is how I would like it to be improved (done in photoshop fast, not a professional work :p ) :



As you can see there is less haze in the upper stands and more haze in the lower stands, which makes sense because there is no light in the upper stands. This way there will be no black crowds popping out of the haze on the top.

The other thing I would like to have would be for the mod to not affect FPS rate.

Again, I'll also accept a crowd file if it looks proper. I hope someone will take care of that, I would very much like this to be bundled with the first issue of the magazine.

Awesome! Tired of reading (staring/looking ) Playboy digi-mag already. Kidding! I'm really looking forward to the first release. So how many page are in it?

Hi guys and thank you for your interest. So far there are 30 pages and I have yet to add 3 or 4 more articles so it should be 40+ pages. I do my best to finish by tonight, but if it's not entirely polished I might publish it tomorrow morning. Unfortunately I hadn't had any help by anyone - except of course from the talented modders who created the cyberfaces and the people who answered the interviews - so producing a full-blown magazine all by myself and not cutting any corners is quite time consuming.

To give you an idea of what I'm talking about, the day before yesterday I slept two hours only. So I go back to editing now, and hopefully tonight I'll release it.

Really like your initiative stielar, I wish you good luck with this!

Since it's a magazine based on mods and modders it would be a good idea to include tutorials, walkthroughs and stuff like that on what and how they do to get all those awesome mods.

It'd be great for people who want to be part of it and contribute with the community, but sadly can't find good and insightful tutorials on how to do some things or don't know how to start.

Announcement: Callitechnologica 1 won’t be released today (Thursday) because the first issue still needs some final touches before it is ready. The magazine will be available to download tomorrow (Friday) in the afternoon, so that you can enjoy both the magazine and the exclusive downloads during the weekend.

@Seanbarkley: Yes this is a great idea. In order for the idea to be fulfilled we would need someone with the required knowledge to write those tutorials. I'd be glad to publish them
