NCAA Signature Shot Animations & RATINGS

Sun Dec 29, 2013 5:31 am

Reaching out to the community to lend a hand posting their signature shot animation recommendations, as the time fast approaches that I get my hands on the NCAA roster to work on it some. Signature Shot animations give the game a real authentic feel, and disparity between players is very important. So what I'm asking is for anybody who is interested and willing, to post their animation suggestions for ANY player, and I will take a look at it and implement it into the roster. I certainly can't tackle every player on my lonesome, nor do I really want to, not to mention I don't think I'm the greatest judge at seeing some of the nuances that many of our community members here have demonstrated in the past. So please, by all means, if you want to just pick a team, or a few select players, or even just one guy that you notice 'Hey, he should have jumpshot X', I'm all ears. Just reply to this thread, and thanks in advance. (Y)

Take a look at Bamz draft class you can find some prospects and they have accurate jump shots.... I had the signature shoots on a text but my PC is broken.

My 2K13 Thread has plenty, but most of the players have been drafted/declared already and are out of the NCAA. + Some of the shots have changed from 2k13 to 14. But there is still a lot that are compatible.

BUMP & UPDATE:

Along with signature animations, I'm also reaching out to those who are big NCAA basketball buffs, or big fans of specific teams. I'm looking for people to give an NBA equivalent for each player, so I can use it as a foundation for rating them (or in many cases, copy it entirely unless there's a glaring difference that needs to be addressed). Basically, I'm looking for you to tell me:
NCAA Player -> NBA Player Equivalent

So, if Julius Randle were in the NBA right this second, who would he be? Who's game and skill set matches his most closely? How about Willie Caluey-Stein? Is he Dwight Howard? Al Jefferson? Demarcus Cousins? How about Jabari Parker? Who currently in the NBA is most rated appropriately (NOT Overall, skill set) to match up with the Duke wonderkid?

I'm looking to do this for every player, but the first 2 teams I'd like to address are Duke and Kentucky (however, if anyone hits me with an entire team, I will certainly work on them ASAP).

Thanks. (Y) (Y)

Hey don't all the NBA draft and scouting sites include NBA comparison :?:  ... Example I just looked up CJ WIlcox of Washington on DraftExpress and it gave a comparison to Wayne Ellington

Perhaps a way non-NCAA buffs could help out would be to make documents aggregating various scouting and NBA draft sites.

Also, I'm sure fans from various team-based sites on communities like SB Nation (example: http://www.theuconnblog.com/ for UConn) would have some incite on their players. Plus I'm sure college and local newspaper writers have nothing better to do than give some comparisons and incite for some of the less 'important' teams included in this mod (example: Fresno or Long Beach State) ---- they have there email address located on their articles for a reason.

I dunno i'm just brainstorming right now heh.

However anyone can help, I would love it. Building the database, matching jersey files, arenas, height, weight, birthday, etc. is a tremendous amount of work, and time consuming. Any help I can get on who to equate Player X to would be fantastic, because I don't have the time to dedicate for the number of teams, when we're really talking about building a roster from scratch.

Are the ratings in the mod going to be based on if they were in the NBA or , don't know how to word it but i.e. Wiggins would be a 90+ overall in NCAA but at NBA, hes a 75 to Low 80.

I'd go with NCAA. Seems silly to have the best players only be in the high 70s. Still, it's unlikely (m)any guys get into the high 90's. The big college players like Randle, Parker, Wiggins, aren't to the NCAA what a guy like Durant was, or LeBron would've been. So really, just looking for a direct translation. Then I can make slight tweaks.

Bamz released a draft class a while ago, w/ ratings, cyberfaces, and jump shot forms

Re: NCAA Signature Shot Animations & RATINGS

http://nbadraft.net/ This site has comparisons for a lot of the players.

I would not go strictly off of their comparisons though, not the most accurate.

Some comparisons from me/NBA Draft.net:

  • Jabari Parker=Carmelo Anthony with better blocking(and defense in general)
  • Doug McDermott=Korver/Ryan Anderson or Nowitzki hybrid
  • Andrew Wiggins=Paul George/Rudy Gay (Not as good of a shot creator)
  • Russ Smith=Allen Iverson (Less handles of course)
  • Zach Lavine=Westbrook(Nearly a carbon copy)
  • Aaron Gordon=slightly slower Kenneth Faried
  • Lebryan Nash= More athletic MWPeace
  • Adreian Payne= Athletic Robert Horry
  • Marcus Smart= Younger Deron Williams/James Harden
  • Embiid= Hakeem Olajuwon/ Healthy Bynum
  • Julius Randle= Larry Johnson/Blake Griffin (Doesn't have blake's perimeter skills like passing and handling, but has a jumper)

agolden I helped in that project u can see in the credits:
bamz draft class Credits:
Aderito (ratings, tendencies, signature animations)
Team of College Hoops 2k13 Project (some cyberfaces)
Vino (Andrew Wiggins cyberface)

bigh0rt, I think u can use the CF because Bamz said only the people helped him on his project could use the CF's... And he used your some of your 2013 project CF's.
But I think u have to speak with him first.

I think you really missed my thread LOL... But u can take a look: viewtopic.php?f=153&t=94079#p1683042

about the NBA comparison I can say to you that usually this players don't play exactly like their comparison. Usually they have a shooting and floor comparison.

Sometimes i don't take the comparison from NBadraft
net because some are out dated... For example: alot of people say that Zach Lavine=Westbrook but if you see his video's on YouTube specifically the new ones you will say that we is playing like the actual Vince Carter, athletic Klay Thompson or Kevin Martin, perhaps I'm wrong but I don't see a Westbrook on his game.

I never would have seen your thread. But most of your comparisons are essentially player rating=>NBA rather than NCAA. Your best bet is to overrate them in this case because most of the players that are getting drafted at lease would be 80+ overall in NCAA. Not that I disagree with your comparisons, its just that those need to stay with draft classes for the most part.

AirAaron32 my comparisons is for tendencies not for rating. Best and Worst Case NBA Comparison (Playing Style). I dont make give them ratings with a NBA Comparisons, i use formulas to do that bro... like i said some formulas (not all) can help their project.
About your Zach Lavine = Westbrook i said perhaps I'm wrong but I don't see a Westbrook on his game.

Ok I can't argue then. I thought you were going off ratings. Maybe you are right about Lavine. He does have the same skillset however.

Re: NCAA Signature Shot Animations & RATINGS

I think if you mixed Klay Thompson's shooting touch with Russell Westbrook's athletecism, you'd get a player that Zach LaVine could develop into if he reaches his full potential. Those two skillsets (shooting & athleticim) are there, for sure, though.

Re: NCAA Signature Shot Animations & RATINGS

Sat Jan 04, 2014 5:21 pm

strobox88, exactly we have the Westbrook kind of athleticism but at this stage he don't penetrate to much to the rim. thats why i said athletic Klay Thompson and i made the Vince Carter comparison because is another player who have the two skillsets (shooting & athleticism) that u mentioned. Watching his videos from High School it seams that he have Westbrook athleticism+Curry Floor game (Dribbles)+Klay Thompson shooting touch. Kyle Anderson is the point guard in UCLA and that makes we not see the real Levine

Aderito, I would love for these comparisons, beyond the few players thus far in your draft list, if you are willing. Please feel free to post or PM me or whatever. Anyone you'd be willing to do would be fantastic. Something like "more athletic Klay Thompson" is perfect. (Y)
