For 2k13, I think it's patch 4 and raising player speed +1 from the fixer's default setting.

Rsnail wrote:But gameplay-wise, what 2k game was the most authentic and realistic, and why? :cheeky:

I'd say the following four are the most authentic/realistic:

1. NBA 2K13
2. NBA 2K11
3. NBA 2K17
4. NBA 2K12
5. NBA 2K14 (Last gen and this gen)

More people need to consider gameplay. Without the basketball aspect of the game being great, it's not a great game. After all.... it's a basketball video game.

NBA 2K13 had one major weakness, and that was blocking shots. Otherwise, the way the players moved around the floor, the offensive repertoire, the way players ran sets, etc.... just very realistic. The atmosphere was great, the game could really give you exciting NBA action. See below highlights of a realistic game I played against the CPU. I lost this one down the stretch, I am using an older version of the URB here. But just watch the way the players move around the court.

phpBB [video]

NBA 2K11 took authenticity to the next level, and had the biggest improvement I have ever seen over a previous title (NBA 2K10). Jordan has never player more realistic as in that game, and the game overall felt clean. Again, the excitement factor. NBA 2K11 felt like real NBA Action. While the dribbling was still the left bumper/right stick combinations, you could still pull off so pretty sweet moves. 2K11 stands the test of time, and still has some of the best gameplay in sports video game history.

phpBB [video]

NBA 2K17 (originally I said 2K12 was better, but I rethought). 2K17 might be the most underrated 2K of all time. The authenticity of the NBA is there, you feel like you are using superstars when you are using superstars. Players don't all blend in together, and the shots on the move (Moving sideways, fadeaways, running forward) look the best in 2K history (my opinion). While body blocks exist, blocking shots (Suspended in the air) feels absolutely amazing. The graphics (lighting) feels right, and the atmosphere at the end of games is fantastic. Here is a game my brother and I played last night. Watch how Durant dominates, it looks just like him playing. Watch how I am using Iverson/Melo, and how my brother is using Westbrook. It all comes together nicely.

phpBB [video]

NBA 2K12 allowed you to chain together some of the best looking moves in video game history. Jump stops into dunks? spin moves into dunks? double cross/behind the backs? you got it. literally the repertoire is endless. This was the last year of bumper dribbling, but it utilized it the best out of all the game. The atmosphere is great, and it took away some of the herky jerky animations from 2K11 (on shots). However, 2K11 still gets the nod by a tad, because I believe the defense is better overall. Look at some of the moves you can pull off in NBA 2K12.

phpBB [video]

NBA 2K14 for the PC basically has all the same gameplay mechanics as this gens NBA 2K14 for X1 and PS4. However, the PC version obviously didn't get the next gen graphics. Both games are pretty simple gameplay wise, but it works. The reason this game is so popular still (modding wise, as well) is because not only could a low end PC run it nicely, but that the gameplay caters to beginners and experienced players alike. This is truly a basketball game that you can just pick up and play. However, players don't seem to run plays as well (Like off the ball), and OLAY! defense exists at times, random times. The defense and simplicity is why I rank this one a bit lower than the others. However, some of my best basketball memories come from this game. I made this video YEARS ago (X1), these were my highlights against the CPU in a drafted season. This was the first highlight video I ever made.

phpBB [video]

Sorry this comment is super long. But, I've been very critical of 2K18, because I think the game is absolutely horrible. I am pretty passionate about basketball video gaming, in particular the gameplay quality. Basketball has been a huge part of my life for a good 28 years, so sometimes I want my voice heard.

Okay so NBA 2K13 is the better game.

I skipped the game but maybe i'll buy it very cheap.

Is the problem with blocking shots you mention fixable?
Can we use the right analog stick for dribble moves?

Thanx.

The blocking issue is not fixable, even with blocking sliders turned up to 100. It's not that blocks don't happen, its that sometimes you will go for a block, and your hand will go right through the ball.... its frustrating when it happens. Your hand will go through the ball, but the game won't recognize that the block happened, so the player will just finish with the layup or dunk. I did once get 7 blocks in a game against my brother with Bill Russell, so its not like it doesn't happen.

And yes, the dribbling is with the right stick, and it feels beautiful. Seriously, the control with the right stick is great and really fun.

Nesa's gameplay fixer does help blocking some, but 2k11 was significantly better in that category than 2k13.

Can someone please link me to Nesa Gameplay Fixer? Im not familiar. Does it make it play closer to 2k11, the best 2k basketball game ever released?

It sucks steam doesn't have 2k11, 12, or 13 anymore. I want to play 2k11 again so bad.

I got it off of Amazon (Downloadable link). Cost me like $8 I think?

Also, go look at the main NBA 2K11 section, someone said it was back to being available on Steam.

Direct links and Google can lead you to the store pages for NBA 2K10 and NBA 2K11. I believe the downloadable version on Amazon is only available to people in the US (which from memory was also the case even when it was new). Definitely a shame that the earlier titles are no longer readily available.

The only thing I really liked about 2K14 was the simpleness of the control scheme. You don't have to press a button just to switch from isomotion and shots. Only for flashy passing which I rarely use. Wished that 2K13 has 2K14 control scheme  :cheeky:

2K13 has a very similar control scheme to 2K14, with the exception of the right stick being able to shoot/help with finishing.

Personally, I don't mind. But I will admit, I use the right stick to finish a lot in 2K14 and 2K17. I like choosing which side of the basket my player will dunk on, or the ability to do a reverse layup by pushing it towards the baseline.

No, but if you find the roster and associated files (CF's, arenas, courts, jerseys, etc), I'll update it to my information. Same with any other roster for 2k11. I'm 3/4 done with updating the 2011 roster now. I just have to update the play types for Orlando through Washington.

I'm currently updating the default 2k11 roster file to reflect my edits. I would be willing to update other files as well as long as I could get the files needed to play each roster. From what I've seen, the links for those on NLSC are dead.

A chinese modder named Chang Feng made updates for 2k11.
Below is the link to the website.

A google translate extension in your browser will be helpful.

Also, is there any way to change the menu in 2k11 pc to that of 2k11 console.[I mean that kind of stuff is common in Pro Evolution Soccer modding]

I never got around to making a tutorial, unfortunately. However, you should be able to do it the same way as the Jukebox music, you use the same tool to do it. Basically, you need to open the eventmusic.bin file with the tool, find the songs you want to overwrite, and overwrite them with songs that are the same or less length. So, you would have to use a program like Audacity to cut down songs to the right length.

For example, if one of the songs you want to overwrite is 1:00 minute long, you will need to cut your song down to 1:00 minute or less, when that's done you can overwrite. This is the same for if you want to replace the halftime/end of game music. Those files are also located within eventmusic.bin.

Format wise, I just used regular mp3 files. I used "youtube to mp3" online, and cut the songs down in Audacity.

Not sure what you are having trouble with, but a couple probing questions are necessary.

1. What camera view are you using?
2. Is this right stick setting on Absolute or Camera Relative?

The dribbling is the same as 2K14 for the most part, with the exception of more pronounced crossovers (Which I think looks better). When I play both games, the dribbling is basically interchangeable. Again, the only big difference is the fact that in 2K13 you can't shoot with the right stick.
