Re: MARCH MADNESS 2K14 v9 (Update 4.2.14)

Has anyone considered the idea of releasing an association file with a (29 game) edited schedule to try and replicate the college season and conference games?

It will depend on the status of 2K15 for PC, ultimately.

thanks for these...I may use these to update bighort's awesome work from 2k14(for myself, unless someone else wants it and bigh0rt is cool with it) to update the college rosters for next year. (just in case we don't have mod tools for 2k15). I'm still loving this mod by the way....play it way more then NBA 2k14 on ps4....just love the college ball

MaRkUsCoUcH 10, short answer is yes. Try reading the section on the JSGME in the releases section.

Re: MARCH MADNESS 2K14 v9 (Update 4.2.14)

Hey bigh0rt, any plans for a March Madness 2k15? The reason I ask is because I have already started editing the rosters in 2k14 to 15 rosters and have done all the cyberfaces for Arizona. I currently have about 6 teams completed. New players/leaving players/position/ratings/Freshman/rotations, etc.

Let me know if this makes sense to you. If NBA 2k15 comes out and is "next-gen" (which I really doubt) then we most likely will not be able to mod it as tools will not be available. If NBA 2k15 is a current gen port (which I'm fairly certain it will be) then won't the .ros, .iff files from 2k14 work for 2k15 since they are the same format? Or am I missing something?

Anyways I don't mind working on it either way as I would like to have a college ball game earlier this year to play thoughout the season. Of course I would not release anything without your permission as you did a lot of work (as well as others) making the MM 2k14 mod so great, (and I'm just building on what you and others already did).

Anyways, what do you think?

Edit: Nevermind, I guess all the tools aren't compatible after reading the NBA 2k13 to NBA 2k14 what patches work and which ones don't thread. Dang it!

Oh well, will still update this with 15 rosters since I don't forsee someone going to these lengths to produce another NCAA mod of this scope.

Re: MARCH MADNESS 2K14 v9 (Update 4.2.14)

droc81yo, my thought is, if 2K15 is 'next gen', then we will spend most of our time still modding 2K14, since we will need the talented people here to crack the new files, etc. which could take quite some time. Conversely, if it is 'current gen', and there's little to no change from 2K14, it's possible that we could still just update 2K14 with a MM2K15 mod. So, long story short, your work shouldn't be for naught either way. Even if we did go to a 'current gen' 2K15, odds are all files except the .ROS would work, and then there would probably just be some creative copy and pasting necessitated.

I think the best thing to do, to get it out as early as possible, would be to do exactly what you're doing, and update 2K14 for a MM2K15 mod. If you'd like to be in charge of the roster, please by all means, feel free to do so, especially if you're working on it now. (Y) (Y)

Sounds good , I'll keep plugging away at it. It is alot of work, but will be well worth it. I'll look to finish by the end of Labor day weekend. I put a lot of effort in, including "matching" players with close lookalikes of generic cyber faces, and also equipment edits and reading scouting reports on freshman and rating them according to their scout and rivals ratings. For instance, Okafor is the highest rated freshman at 85, While Stanley Johnson #2 overall and Oubre, #4 overall are 84 and so on down the list. A #51-75 recruit will be in the under 75 range, and 100 and below will be 68-73 max. Also the highest rated player so far is an 86, so I'm keeping with your ratings format that worked well last year., as the college game is different from the pros and the lower ratings seem to help it play more true to the college game

Excellent. If you want more generic CF resources and other faces, let me know and I'll bundle what I've got. People have been extremely generous and I'm certainly not looking to hog it. (Y)

Its really hard to put out an accurate college rosters until the end of the season. Freshman and the like. Heck its hard to make an accurate college roster period. Good luck! :applaud:

True, but this is an inherent flaw with sports games in general. For instance on NBA 2k14 on PS4 the Suns were ranked #29 on the game.....the second worst team in the association. However they performed well over that rating and didn't qualify for a lottery pick, missing the playoffs by 1 win. So in all honestly it's all relative. Prognostication of rosters for sports games are never 100% accurate as in each players real life ratings as "real" players aren't based on a 100 scale of ball handeling, spin moves, dunk rating etc. Players simply play. The goal of this roster, as with any other roster is to reproduce reality as closely as we can using ones and zeroes. Will it ever be perfect? Of course not. Will it be fun and immersive while providing a likeness to real college basketball players and teams? Absolutely.
