Question about shoes files in NBA 2K14

one shoes related question for nba 2k14 - what determines which shoes files go to main nba 2k14 folder and which ones go to appdata/shoes folder?

and what is the correct location for shoedata.DAT file, main nba2k14 folder or appdata/shoes folder?

Pretty sure shoe files in the appdata folders or even anything in the Online Data folder are just from when 2K14 still gets updates. Technically when you open the game those files gets detected as files in the Main Directory anyway, there's really no point in putting them in those folders now, Main 2K14 folder is fine. As for the shodata.DAT file since that file originally just exist in the appdata/shoes folder I assume that it's supposed to be there and not in the Main Directory.

but now i'm bit confused because i found one thread where RICH72601 was mentioning that all shoes files that end up with .iff go to main folder, while those without .iff extension go to appdata/shoes folder.

however, he didn't mention anything about shoedata.DAT file, so it is still a puzzle to me.

i hope we hear the word from shoe modders too
