I must say I was caught in the hype and the "oh look shiny" surface on 2k next gen. Now, it's the best basketball game out (partly by default with no real competition), imo, but like a comment said on that article, after the shiny part wears off, you realize that this game is full of bugs and head scratching implements we always get from 2K.
I don't blame the devs, I think this goes above them. If the management team wanted them to focus on certain aspects, then those things would be addressed, imo. For instance, who ever is in charge of the budget, it is more important that they allocate their money towards marketing and getting Lebron or Jay-Z instead of getting licenses for TD Garden and MSG (unless there is something else in the way of them not getting the stadium licenses). Furthermore, the graphics are great on the surface, but if you look more closely, other than player models for the majority of the players, the rest of the graphics are not that good, and even in some cases are actually ports from last gen. Like courts, specifically the textures of the courts, which contain atrociously looking parquets and low res textures. Player models of players that haven't had their faces scanned have also been ported from last gen.
I'd just like this game to be less Hollywood. They've been listening to people asking for fluff like intro animations, driving to the stadium, pre game crowd stuff, all that junk that adds nothing to the game. A good start would be to stop listening to all those stupid youtubers, who make videos of their guy driving to the game in GTA and put in some 4th grade storyline. That's literally what MyCareer is now.
Make the game authentic with correct colors, stadiums, and player models for ALL players, including d-league guys that get called up mid season. Make MyGM realistic where I can actually pick what the terms of the contract are for free agents amongst other things. Fix the servers, it's only been a problem since always. If there's going to be VC, make it more balanced.
