Tougher Association guide

Postby bellsouth on Sun Jan 12, 2014 1:57 pm

Hey, I am having a hard time being committed to an association, I usually quit halways through the season especially if i trade for players and lose the team's identity.

I remember someone had tough rules for association like no trades first year, etc.

What else do you guys use to stick with the team through the years?

1) choose team you like, if you are Bulls fan then choose Bulls, if you are Lakers fan then choose Lakers,... in case you are no team fan then pick team most appeal to you, there's nothing to shame about jumping on Heat bandwagon, or if you want to be a messiah then choose team in dead end of rebuilding process,...
2) learn the game, get use to it then move to harder setting, winning is great, but sometimes losing add the right taste to the meal
3) you could use no-trade 1st year rule, or limit it like only less than 10 trade a season, 1 blockbuster trade a season. The point is don't trade too much. And don't force the trade.
4) trade for and use players you like (within trade limit of course)
5) learn how the system run (the caps, the draft, free agent rules,...) from there you will see the game different, not just charge-all-you-can to the final anymore, there are tanking, trade for cap space, fishing for big FAs,...
6) modding things around and enjoy it in association (court, jersey, CF,...)
7) if you want, write a story about your work, let your imagination free.

Good start, here is something hardcore association players might be interested in:

Self controlling Gm firing.

if current record < previous record 2 years in a row - booted

may be also if half season record - only 30% < previous season's - booted

go to:

look at worst 5 teams and pick. Or random.

Are there people interested in creating a hardcore association players thread or wiki?

I don't really know what to write about besides the obvious - no superstar trades, may be something about star player demanding a trade if halfway through the season playoff hopes are dead (rondo, love, etc)

curious what you guys add to keep it realistic.

could discuss some of your ideas about when to resign from an organization, when to switch another players role to star (like the danny granger to paul george situation), draft class suggestions... just some ideas

+1.

It's the main reason I buy the game each year.
Speaking of, check my Association story thread. Really keeps you in touh with your own Association and interested in it if there is a bit of a storyline.
