As a guy that plays very close attention to detail. I noticed a few years back that turbo has not attribute tied to the players. Speed rating is the full movement speed of the player when the direct is fully pressed. Quickness is the players speed moving laterally. So where does Turbo tie in?
Playing exclusively on HOF diff, i noticed that you can actually beat defenders off the dribble without a boost. Add that most of the 2K moves give some sort of force field for a split second, why is turbo needed? Well in a game i feel its totally reasonable to use turbo when:
- In the open floor (fast break or pushing the ball)
- Obviously on defense anytime
- When attempting a dunk
Many will probably disagree as many have already. I found that most of my opponents, about 90% can not function in a game or be offensively productive without the use of turbo. We have all seen the lateral turbo, to get enough separation for an jumper attempt. When have you ever seen this done in a real life game? Players dont generally create that much separation from a NBA defender. Sure you can say guys like Rose, Westbrook etc create a great amount of separation, but this isnt the case in the halfcourt set (outside of an iso). but even then those fast players are fast without turbo.
I would propose to 2K to make additional attributes, one being Acceleration. This would distinguish a difference in reaching top speed between players. as they as of now reach turbo speed instantly. And get rid of that pumpfake-turbo launch!!! Every player does it, which isnt realisitc. Most guys dont have jabsteps in their arsenal, therefore shouldnt in the game....
