Black screen

Talk about NBA 2K14 here.

Black screen

Hi guys, so I finished a fresh install of the game, everything went well, no errors or whatnot.

Now I double clicked the icon on my desktop and all I get is a black window flashing once and going back to desktop. This is a new laptop, Windows 8 64-bit, I was able to play 2K13 on my old laptop. Also the same thing happened with 2K13 when I installed it on here, but I have no problem with 2K12 or 2K11. None of the fixes I found on the Internet for 2K13 worked and I thought I'll just wait for 2K14 and play that, but it's not the case as I'm having the same problem all over again. I really want to be able to play it on this laptop, because I know it will run waaay more smoother.

Please help guys. D:

Hi

Have you tried switching off your Antivirus?
I had a same problem, couldn't run it in Steam, but if I switch off (or put a avast! on gaming mode) and run NBA2k14 from folder, everything works!
Hope it fixes your problem.

Same thing, I feel like I tried everything to a point where I became stupidly desperate enough to reinstall and read the terms of service during the installation hoping that it was karma for lying.

Could the problem possibly be Windows 8?

I checked google and there is some kind of a problem with Win8 and 2k series. I assume you don't consider installing win 7 on your computer, then maybe try find a crack or a mini-image. If you have tried everything these might be only "extreme" solutions.

Even though I'm still looking for a fix. I plan on downgrading back to Windows 7, really appreciate your help.
I'll post the results if anyone has the same problem for future reference.

BUMP

GUYS I DID IT! I FIXED THE PROBLEM FOR WINDOWS 8! All I had to do was go to the Store app from the Start Menu and upgrade to Windows 8.1 and it worked flawlessly!!
