If your player is moving on defense without you doing anything, try turning off defensive assist in the controller settings.

Sucks that absolute control options for the prostick mess up the shot stick part of it as well as the dribbling. Basically, if you use absolute (nba live-esk dribbling) the only way you can dunk is RT + RS Up. I'd much rather have the dribbling controls be absolute while the shot stick part be camera relative.
Opinions are my own.

I'm really shock guys..... Same problem as in the previous 2 version.....the CPU often waits till the last few seconds out of the 24 to shoot and too often are of course bad shots.... but how can it be that nobody of you notice that? This make the game unplayable!! And the create a Legend mode is gone as well, well I m just disgusted with myself that I bought it today (PC Version) that is the very first day in my Country.... feeling cheated and robbed again by 2k...

Yes, I hate that.

I have had this happen a couple times, but it's usually later in the shot clock when they don't have time to reset. I turned the game speed to 60 and haven't had it happen yet. You can also try increasing the global tendencies for cpu shooting to 51 or 52. They will be more aggressive, then.

Yes, that's the next thing I will try.

I haven't tried to set game speed to 60 yet but I've set all the shootig sliders of inside shot mid or 3 pts shot to more than 70 and the CPU still waits till 6/7 secs till they shoot. Exactly as it was in nba 2k12 and nba 2k13.... :|

the more i play it, the more i can't stand that glitch with players steping on free throw line while shooting free throws. it really hurts my eyes.

since i still have 2k13 and 2k12 installed, i checked if there is similar issue in those two games, and there is no such glitch there.

i don't understand how they (2k sports) did it with 2k14. (N)

The free throw issue might have something to do with how shots are triggered and the feet placement. I recall the recent 2k games slightly sliding players get behind the 3 point line if they were almost behind it, but in 2k14, they seem to step in and i I have gotten several long twos instead of threes due to it.

Impression of Steam...as in pile of...

Why does Steam have to update and verify installation every time I turn on the PC?

Every time I launch NBA 2K14, I have to shift tab to close the message about the product key (it shows the product key). Then it's in the Steam menu, so I have to press close and then click here to return to the game.

I already entered the product key. Why does it have to keep reminding me about the product key?

The only defensive assist I can find in controller settings has to do with AI helping on defense.

I'm sorry, I really don't like this.

I've come around to the fact the the isomotion stick is the shot stick at the same time, that was not the hard part to adjust to, it definitely leads to smoother transitions from crossovers to layups and stuff.
The difficult part is going to be to actually doing the moves I wanna do while being on different areas on the floor. Memorizing different directions of pushing the stick does not come as easy to me as memorizing face buttons. I guess I'm just stupider than everyone else here.

One thing that would come a long way for me - and really does not make any sense to me - is a damn hop stop button, like B last year. Move the pick calling back to the left bumper and remove the unnecessary "Best play" thing LB is assigned to now. Right D-pad and Left Trigger does the same thing and does not take any longer.
Stepback jumpers are something I wanna be able to do in any situations to create space, but most of the time they're kinda awkward to pull of, especially if you're in the half further away from the camera, if that makes sense.

Also I don't think they're possible to do anymore out of a triple threat situation. Example:
Image

Whatever .. I hope I get used to this. Overall, controls are still a big step back (no pun intended) for me this year. Can't help it.

I thought it affected the player, too. Try adjusting it to 0 and see if your controlled player still moves without your input.

That is only affetcting the player. It says how much the AI helps you on defense, which means, how much the AI helps YOU stay in front of your defender.

That checkbox that says "don't notify me about this again" will stop steam nagging you about the CD key.

Also, steam should not be updating and verifying every time you turn on your PC. If it's doing that then there is likely something up with the install. Try re-installing Steam if it bothers you that much.

Lastly, if you really hate steam that much, you can launch the game in administrator mode directly from the .exe file to bypass the overlay.

i hope they fix it as soon as possible with the patch (not againt to wait march for pc patch).

i'm asking you guys (moderators and admins), if you are still in contact with leftos, ronnie or anyone related to 2k sports nba, please tell them to fix that issue with players stepping on the line.

i hope i don't ask too much :)

Leftos still comes round these parts, and if you (nicely) tell him on Twitter, all the better.

Like everybody said, its better than 2K13. If they would've put more effort into menus and others aspects of presentation then they would have less angry customers accusing them of releasing the same game from last year.

Gameplay is more realistic, animations are more fluid and realistic, playing defense is actually fun and rewarding. The only problems I have with this game can be fixed by altering sliders.

Nice to see some improvements in inbounding harder to steal from them

AI is Smarter on Most occasions by having different setups

BUT

At the same time DUMBER due to why the heck would you pass to someone over the backcourt leading to a violation

1.Controls are just ridiculous, I end up shooting when I want to dribble
2 Players are flying on the court, gameplay too too fast, player weight non existent, ball seems too light
3 Defense is strong in cpu team but non existent in players team...
4 "and ones" are too easy to make..
5 Sometimes I see players just stutter and move their position on the field, like..disappearing on a moment

and blocks are ~10 per quarter when they show player running like just before the replay they are shredded, this is a disaster of a game.

I agreed! After playing this game more, it's a disaster compared to nbk13. All you have to do is pass the ball a few times and you have an open guy for a 3 pointer every time. You can lose your defender so easily. CPU don't guard well on the 3 point line at all, even when I put on-ball defense set to 100 and set difficulty to Hall of Fame. This is because the game speed and ball passing is too fast that defenders can't react to it in time and you get an open 3 pt shot every time. For people who think the AI is smarter, you haven't noticed this yet. All you have to pass the ball around a few times and pass it to a 3 point shooter and shoot it.

Player's weight is non existent! Everything feels too light, Cs move around like PGs, even collisions don't feel like collisions. The blocking is awful. There is more but it's not realistic. Players with low blocking ratings like PGs, S. Nash are blocking!

I wonder if 2K14 for the next gen be different then the current gen as in blocking, rebounding, speed,Putting Euro players on an NBA team, putting crew back on the court and not the blacktop and add foulsin it also? (sorry for that long list)

Oh Good for you

Mine is the other way around, my opponents are locking my shooters down while my players are sagging way too much on the 3 point shooter with or without playing tight adjustments on them
