Sliders Clarification

Ok...so this may seem like a really stupid question, but when editing defensive sliders and foul sliders, what does it actually change? For example, does the User "Driving Contact Shot Frequency" slider affect how often you CAUSE your opponent into a contact shot, or does it make your controlled player more likely to to be forced into a contact shot. And do the User foul sliders affect how often you're called for fouls, or how often you GET fouled?

Also, do CPU sliders only apply to your CPU opponent, or do they affect the players on your team that you're not controlling (i.e. if you're controlling Kobe, do CPU sliders affect other Lakers on floor?)
