Somebody please help

I cannot deal with online play anymore. Or 2k in general. Is it me or does it seem like momentum is ABSOLUTELY OVERPOWERING in this game? I was just up 3 with my team and the next thing I know, I get dunked on and the guy runs of 10 straight. Meanwhile, I miss wide open jumpers while his non-star guy hits contact layup and-1's. When momentum is against you, wide-open jumpshots miss, you turn the ball over, you cannot get rebounds. It's unbelievable. I have to call 3 time outs to "reset" the game before it will allow me to hit a layup.
This is an absolutely disgrace. Does 2k think this is making the game more "realistic? " It feels like I have no control over the game. I never used the CPU assist toggle in NBA Live. The problem is that in 2k, there's no way to turn off momentum. What can I do aside from putting my foot through a screen. I'm always trading baskets with a dude and then BAM, 15-0 run.
