They've already done their three patches, on to Leftos' six month vacation and then 2K15!

i ain't dropping a dime on vc. there will always be a workaround, and if there isn't, i don't need to pay for their game and then pay to play it. what is this? basketball? or World of Bore-craft? maybe if they didn't make you start out as a scrub in my career, and make everything in the game vc based, maybe people wouldnt feel the need to farm vc.

Kotaku jumps in

2K Sports, until very recently, prided itself on putting everything on the disc. Sixty dollars bought you the full experience. That changed incrementally—historic teams here, All-Star Weekend contests there—over the past two years. Now the series seems to have sunk both fists into the molasses, monetizing everything from a created player's clothing to how a general manager makes strategic choices.
VC is a flawed system, yes, but the rotations is unlocked either with the VC you get when you startup the game, or after a maximum of 5 games played, in any mode. Hardly the issues plaguing Forza 5's initial setup.
The online stuff is spot on though, F all that.

It's still like paying for a toothpick or tissue to use when you've already paid for the meal.

dammit that is an awesome analogy

VC in myplayer/mycareer makes sense to an extent. I have no problem with starting off rated low and earning VC for my experience and then using it to improve my player. The problem is that you can purchase it, making the whole experience useless and unfair if you go that route. Now if they didn't care about "straight cash homie" but still wanted to have micro transactions, they could limit the VC to accessories/gear/animations, but not player ratings. That way the playing field would be much more even.

The other problem with VC is how it's implemented in almost every aspect of the game and it makes no sense. For example, I can understand a reward system in mygm, where you're a newbie gm and you don't have access to level 5 - 10 business savvy (even level 2-10 or what ever), which is locked until you gain experience to unlock it. But something basic like the rotation being locked, that unlocks for tops 500 VC, which isn't really that much, but think about it with shadowgrin's analogy. It's a petty way to get money. And for now, it won't affect me purchasing their game, because there's nothing close to it. But if one day there's some legit competition, whether it's Live or another series, things like this will play a factor in my purchasing decision.

Also I don't know if anyone has finished their first season of MyGM. But the off season development camps cost VC too. For me VC cost ranges from 1150 - 1250. Also I earned less than 1000 VC (I think like 600-800) after completing the season, which isn't even enough for one training camp thing.

And then you have the mind tricks and persuasive pitches that you can purchase with VC to sway free agents or gms. The catch is, these things aren't really a one time purchase. First you purchase the ability, then once you have the ability, it costs between 1200-1500 VC to use that ability every time you want to use it.

And since you can't adjust the dollar amount, years, no trade, etc, the only way to sign a free agent is by using a certain pitch, which again costs VC. So you can't sign a free agent unless you spend VC. I was able to keep free agents from my team, that were willing to resign. Only free agents I was able to sign without using any mind trick/pitch was someone crappy asking for 500k, even then my preset offer was less than they were asking, and it's not certain they will sign. Pretty ridiculous.

That's disappointing to hear. I'd say that pretty much spoils the mode for me.

my issue is when you build your player up and the file becomes corrupt for no reason, so you need to start all over again. or the server not being online and you not playing your career since it will turn to offline.
