god I love the block attempt fall over the stationary player animatinos

defense looks better, collisions and such, moar blocks

presentation is mostly the same, small changes

no Sprite Spark after the 3rd quarter!!! Or they skipped it, which is still good.

Seen a lot of ball warping in the dribbling, the throw ahead dribble then pass globetrotters thingy is still in.

Awesome ending and cool new camera angle on the review. :D Totally agree. :D

So after finally watching some good quality game play I think those who are calling the game "NBA 2k13.1, NBA 2k13.5 or whatever are justified in doing so.

some random observations:

Stuff that bugged was a big wind up for a pass to a guy that's a foot infront.

Tyson Chandler got the ball wide open under the basket did a mini hook instead of an easy layup.

Still has the robotic passing motion.

JR Smith caught an outlet pass on a fastbreak and the animation hesitated instead of being smooth and continuing with his momentum to the hoop.

Yeah there's a lot of graphical stuff missing that I saw in the next gen reveal vid. Next gen gameplay and animations looked real nice and fluid too. Definitely skipping current gen on consoles at least.

Jao, can you give me a explanation... It'll be a online match for everybodies appreciation? Is that it?

Cause the way you guys are talking about, 2K14 will be the most excite game on Earth.

I don't think anyone is claiming that. I do think it will be better than 2K13, but that is the 2K norm. Each year slightly improves over the year before it. They've never really had a big jump of improvements from game to game.

Maybe it's just me being pesimistic once again, but I got so frustrated with Ronnie2k and LD2k hyping the game up to no end, I actually had to mute the video for a while. A typical example of that: passing lanes... If you played at least a hundred of games online, which I believe these 2 have done, you can't be honest in saying nice pass, well done, like they are doing. The only natural response is saying how on earth can you do this all game long for a couple years now... Yes, I understand saying bad things about the game, would hurt the sales, that's why they are hyping it up, like they do every year, but it just makes the whole thing look so phoney. I mean how excited can you be, when the biggest new features in the game are things they suddenly decided to get rid of (blocking, crews - they talk about it the most). Despite all I've just written (venting a little bit :D), I'm buying it once again, being a fan of the series and I still think this will be the best basketball game on the market.

One thing that I do love dearly in this video, from an online gamer's point of view, is punishing players who jump everywhere in order to get a steal/block. The game cannot be realistic, when you're the only one playing it in such way.

Also lol @ Ronnie2k forgetting to mention the PC version once again and playing it cool when he hit that unintentional 3 with Felton...

I think ure complaining.
Good game will defend self without hype talking, so yes i full agree with imaiden.
Btw. i watched whole video, yes i saw couple of animations, i believe in 3,5k animation they annouced, im not complaining but i think this k of animations are mostly face animations. The gameplay looks fine at the begining but after a while i saw almost all bad things from default 2k13. New sliders will fix this, but still.

Yep that pissed me off quite a bit at the end, if it wasn't for him being reminded he would not have even mentioned it. In fact when he got reminded he just said .. "umm, oh yeh and PC" completely monotone. I find that quite arrogant becuase his personal view should stay out of it as he's supposed to be selling a product and that was a full promo announcement he was tagging in on the end, you dont "forget" a platform that going to be released for a company you work for .. a bit poor, a bit idiotic and childish too.

I have heard about Ronnie2K from last year, that was the first time I have seen or heard him ... wasn't impressed.

As regards the game, well, it has new things and modes, as long as I can find it on a offer not full asking price like last year I will get it.

I've just saw it and I'm agreeing him on about dribbling system in Nba 2k11,12,13,14 'cause it's almost like everyone having same dribble moves but it isn't realistic...:S I'ld like to see more different moves, more sig. crossovers, between the legs crossovers...etc. in every player like in Nba 2k10 (still my favorite about customizations in player face, moves, shots, blacktop streetbal moves...etc.) and they even going backwards about this...:? I hope that in next gen we don't see that bullshit no more...:D Otherwise I think Nba 2k14'll be a good solid basketball game and I know that I still enjoy with it...:D

Corporate speak:

"My door is always open" means "don't bother me with your opinions."

I'm hoping we'll soon see some videos without the extra commentary. This constant hype, or the "it's your boy..." commentary is ear bleed inducing.

Smoove is definitely on point about rebounding (just as broken as it's always been) and dribble moves. 2K10 had far and away the best customization of dribble moves, you could pick every single one and create your own package. It's still puzzling to me why they went back to forcing players to use those predetermined packages, the result is that half of the league really does dribble the same way in this game.

As for the actual gameplay, I have to say I'm not very impressed. It's difficult to be impressed when a new game is merely a roster update and bug fix (if that) compared to the previous game. The new animations are nice I guess, but is that really all there is to 2K14? Probably, when the most hyped features are a stripped-down version of Crew (which isn't even gonna be there on PC) and blocking dunks. I don't care very much about the untouched graphics, scoreboard, replays, etc. but it sure does help the "NBA 2K13.1" people make their case. It really looks like the same game. But hey, looks like the replays are working this year.

I still want to see a full game of a decently skilled player playing against the CPU. Is 2K14 another tale of the eternal fastbreak, even against slow, half-court teams? Is playing good on-ball defense on the perimeter still next to impossible? And perhaps most importantly, how retarded are my CPU teammates on defense? Specifically, is it the 2K10/2K12 level which makes the game completely fucking unplayable for me or is it closer to how they acted in 2K11, hell, even 2K9 - where they could be trusted with the simplest, most basic defensive tasks in basketball, such as: NOT leaving the CPU's best shooter a mile of free space on every goddamn possession and NOT standing and watching as your matchup cuts backdoor for a wide open dunk?

Either way, I'm definitely not getting the game in October. We all know the game will be quite glitchy out of the box, even 2K11 was. Waiting half a year for a fix for some of the issues was bad enough, seriously. Not releasing a patch at all is complete disrespect for paying customers and the final straw for me. If a PC patch isn't in 2K's gameplan for this year, they're not seeing a penny from me. And I imagine the chances of a PC patch aren't too great, considering they'll have to patch the 360/PS3 current gen versions and then the next gen versions as well.

Can't say I'm surprised or dissapointed or anything. Incremental upgrades have always been the norm. And now with the added load of having to develop Next gen games as well, of course even less innovation is going to be put into the current gen games. If the game wasn't $20 for PC, I definitely wouldn't even consider a purchase at this point. But for $20 we'll finally get the bug fixes that eluded us in the patch, and maybe get some better balancing gameplay and animation wise.

I'm worried about the controls change, ONCE AGAIN, it just seems like a lot of their changes aren't substantial enough to warrant overhauling the controls every year. Would really like to see them finally polish up the game completely. No more random drill bugs, replays going haywire, completely misplaced commentary, stats being wrong etc. At this point, when so little is added, any additional bugs produced within the game are completely unnacceptable (sounds harsh but c'mon your core gameplay hasn't changed THAT much since 2k11).
