Trouble Updating Portrait Photos - Can't Save IFF Files

I've just been starting to get into NBA modding and have been playing around with how things work. I'm now trying to update a few portrait photos but am running into some trouble. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

So far I know how to update the roster file (change names, skills, etc.) and have confirmed that these do update in game.

But when I use Red MC and open up the default portrait.iff (with portrait.cdf in the same folder) it loads fine - I can scroll through everything and see photos on the right side. As soon I save the file. If I try to open it again, it shows this error message:

The file being read is not a valid "Portable Network Graphics" image because it contains an invalid header. This file may be corrupted, try obtaining it again.

This message shows whether or not I upload a photo, just change text or do nothing and just save it.

I have also tried playing the game with these files and no portraits show at all - which makes sense because it is corrupted. But I do not know how to save the file without corrupting it.

Does any one know how I can sort this out?

I am also open to doing this another way, I just want some way to update the portrait photos.

I was planning on buying Red MC after I got this finished for the other features (I have the free version now) but don't want to yet until I am sure I'll be able to do update portrait photos.

RED MC is only guaranteed to work with default iff files from the game. HAWK23 and a few others do some awesome techniques to add to the files rather than overwrite. While they work in-game, they don't work with RED MC.
