Over the past few months, I've been taking classic players and turning them into rookies to add to my Association draft classes and teams. I may not be the only person interested in having those historical players in my game, so I'm going to upload them in case anyone else is interested.
WHAT'S NEW IN VERSION 0.3
More new players added, focusing on the stars of the 1980s--you know, Bird, Magic, Jordan, Hakeem. THOSE guys. See the full list below for who. I've got about 3/4s of the total list of players that I want.
I've copied the rookies into a Roster file instead of an Association file. They're still in the Free Agents section.
A few players like Tim Duncan are included in draft classes which have been created since I started this project. Eventually they may get removed from this project. But they're useful even now for having correct PeakAge and AudioM values--they'll age historically, and be called correctly by the announcers.
- All players have had their stats adjusted so that they should have proper career trajectories. Note that many of these players spent four years in college, so they'll be better, but older, than most modern rookies.
There is a hidden stat called "peak years" that allows you adjust when players start declining. Most modern players those years are 27-31 or so, for players whose careers we know about can be tweaked so that they'll decline earlier, like Bill Walton (peak age 24-25), or later, like John Stockton (peak age 28-33). Therefore these rookies will be more accurate than most draft classes
Most, but not all, of the players are Hall Of Fame-level players who aren't included in any of the classic teams from the game, nor are they in any of the downloadable draft classes in URB (all draft classes before 1986, plus 1990 and 1992)
All of these players have cyberfaces hidden in the game, as well as having their names in the announcer database. (Reggie Miller's face will need to be downloaded, but if you're here, you've downloaded one of the dozens of mods with him by now, right?)
The downloadable file right now is generic 2012/2013 Roster file, with the rookies in the Free Agent class. If you'd like to know how to get them into your game, see the bottom of the this message

- More players, obviously. Feel free to make a request below. Please make certain that their cyberface is in the game. One way to tell: the NBA Forever mod is primarily done with those faces.
Create a Draft Class file. The only way I know how to do this is cloning with the Trainer, as Red MC doesn't allow direct editing of draft classes, as far as I can tell. The trainer is slow, annoying, and has occasional errors. If you know a better way, please let me know.
Make sure all players have proper arm colors, Momentum variables (what the stadium announcer says their name is), and Peak Years
I know of two methods. One is annoying, the other costs money:
- RED MC is the one that costs money. Make sure you pick up the Advanced File Types to edit Association files, and the Modder's Interface to open up two files at once. Then you copy the player from my mod into your Association, either into a blank spot or over another player. Also, this video will explain how to edit a player into your Association's already-existing draft class.
Alternately, you can use the Turbo Trainer to clone players. This will allow you clone players directly into draft classes from the NBA 2K13 main menu, as well as just about anywhere else. This doesn't always work, though, but it is free. This thread may help. Note that if you clone these players into a draft class, they won't show up in certain scouting/drafting lists, but they will show up in others.
To use, just download the Classic Rookies.FXG file, put it in your save directory, and load.
If too many players have black arms, you'll need DukeW74's Black Arm fix as put together by JaoSming. Check George Mikan, it'll be easy to tell. Note that David Thompson's are slightly off even after the fix. That's why I gave him sleeves, which helps a little bit.
Thanks to DamirNYK for providing several existing rookies.
Please let me know if you find any glitches, have any requests, or know how I can directly edit draft classes short of cloning players one-by-one.
