95-96 season

Postby Doctor on Sat Jul 20, 2013 10:45 am

Being a big Toronto fan, I would like to play its first season in the NBA.
Is there a way to make it happen?
Or what would be the closest thing to doing that?

Thanks.

It's possible through modding on the PC, though there are limitations. You can add the players and art from that era and play with them, though there's no way to technically set the game in the 1996 season (in terms of playing an Association, for example) and you can't implement the old four divisions with the 29 teams from the time. Additionally, a mod of that magnitude is going to take some time to make; it can't just be whipped up in a few hours.

So if you're asking whether it's possible to do in theory, then the answer is yes, with limitations, if a few dedicated people can make a mod for the PC version. If you're asking whether you can do it today, then the answer is no, as there is no 1995/1996 season mod available right now.

What would be the oldest season mod available?

retroman has made a 1997/1998 season mod, which you can find in the NBA 2K13 Total Conversions section of our Downloads database.

With all the various tutorials and FAQs on installing mods, you should be set. It's basically a matter of downloading an archive and extracting the files to the appropriate folder. You can of course post any further questions you have in the Forum, should you run into any difficulties.

Thanks.
I think I will give it a try with Toronto with current 2013 season.
