Talk about NBA 2K13 here.

So I just started playing 2k13 some days ago on PS3, and I am impressed with it's visuals as well as it's overall gameplay. However there's something that I am not very fond of, that is the new "currency" that is used to level your player.
I have only begun this game, and I have become upset with the amount of VC earned for beginning players. I could understand clearly at first because my performance wasn't always up to par. However, when I managed to drop 42 points in my first ever start with a offense stat line of 42 points/58%/8 rebounds/2 assists/4 steals/ 2 blocks; I was merely awarded a very disappointing 284 VC. Which I was able to accumulate nearly the same amount with several shooting drills.
I feel that the skill points were a better option, VC just seems to make the game too time consuming since I have to play nearly 5 games well; in order to have a sufficient amount of VC to advance in overall. I remember in 2k11 (where I have my 99 overall Small-Forward), gaining skill points wasn't easy but it was certainly more reasonable after a great performance. I find myself earning as much as 3500ish skill points there, whereas in 2k13 I barely make 300 VC without the 2x bonus even after a "great" performance.
I'm more curious as to where they are going with this "VC" as they call it. I'm assuming players are able to purchase these "skills" from their respective networks, like Xboxlive and PSN. Needless to say, I am very displeased with this system as of now. Perhaps if they buff up the amounts earned via a great(It's so sad how a great performance doesn't get you much) game, the experience would be even better.
I'm unaware of other reviews of such things, I'm merely applying my thoughts from firsthand experience after playing this game.
Overall satisfaction for me would be a 4/5. I would totally give this all 5 if it weren't for some bumps in the MyCareer game mode. I have typed this as a beginning review, since I haven't played any other gametype other than playnow and MyCareer.

It's a much worse situation with the PC version, which doesn't utilise VC (making the daily predictions game pointless) and skill points accumulate just as slowly. It's definitely been designed with purchasing VC packs with real money in mind.

I was really hoping they wouldn't venture into these money grabbing techniques. You'd think they would have enough as it is, they are ranked #1 for a reason. People really like their product (perhaps an understatement), I don't understand why they would do that. It's a business of course, but I find this course very ridiculous.
I just completed another game, 37 minutes played for a career high 47 points on 22/36 shooting with 4 rebounds and 2 assists. Total "VC" earned: a sad 282...perhaps in another update they'll increase the amount gained, I don't see how I'll get anywhere above 80 soon without paying for it. On 2k11 by now I would be at least 70 overall. I'm still at 68.
It is a fun game though, I'll give it that. I just can't stand the new system they have for this game, hopefully it doesn't continue though it appears as if it will.

The free companion app for Android and iOS devices apparently isn't too bad for developing and boosting your MyPLAYER, along with the Facebook game. You can also get a little VC here and there from the daily predictions game (at least for the course of the 2013 regular season), so there are a few options at your disposal when it comes to the console versions. It's definitely a shame they went that route though.
