Slow computer causes lags online?

I play online with my 3 friends. However, when "Jimmy" gets on, we always lag. The rest of us can play online games fine with no choppy graphics but he cannot. Is this because his computer is underpowered, affecting everyone else? We all have pretty good systems except his, which is about 5 years old. (Intel D805 dual core w/ 8800gt Nvidia)

yep, framerate online actually slows the game down. Make sure he does a benchmark, and if that doesnt help maybe try sending him your settings and config file (manually editing graphics options down, not in-game) and see if that helps

Thanks! I read the other post about benchmarking too. Wow, can't believe that could be the cause of the lag. 2k really should have thought about that before making benchmarking optional. They should have known a lot of people would jump right into online mode after changing graphics options.

To be fair, the game does pop up a message about benchmarking when you change the video settings. Of course, seeing as it's still optional and relies on people both reading the popup and following through on it, it doesn't exactly solve the problem.
