I am the heat and i get around 5 blocks a game. Best situation to block a shot is when a player takes a mid-range shot. its really hard to block a shot when the player is in the post or doing a layup.

This, if you mean for yourself without editing the sliders, up your Block Attribute and possibly put on the Chase Down Skill.
