Aaarggh! This is NBA Jam

Tue Oct 16, 2012 1:15 pm

This is the 6th game I'm playing so maybe it's me, but you cannot play D in this stinking game. At first, I thought it was great that layups in the paint finally fall in instead of getting blocked by people's elbows and toes in 2k12. But it's effing impossible to stop. I just played an online 2 on 2 game btw OKC and Denver and it was ridiculous. You cannot stay in front of Westbrook no matter what. Using Intense D button does nothing. Meanwhile I turbo left to try to keep up, he crosses me over, and I end up on the other side of the court. OKC got about 25 dunks, some just by beating you down the floor.

The one time I finally got in his face, he drills the jumper regardless. It is laughably easy to score. I used Corey Brewer and scored 27 in this game while Westbrook had 40. 5 minute quarters.

it's blacktop dude, an ARCADE mode

also on another note, I will never understand people who will say things like this is broken, and that is broken... it's like dude.... you know you got sliders that fix 9 outta 10 problems you're complaining about right

When defending slashing shooters like Kobe, DWade, Russell, DRose, it's your choice if you risk defending near them (so they cannot shoot) or give them ample space so they try to take a shot from a distance. You can even use the Right Stick to shade them.

2K13's defense is good for me. It is just on the player on how are they going to defend their opponents. When I play, I give them a few feet so they take the jump shot rather than drive to the hole and take a much higher-percentage shot.

dude you played 6 games! SIX! what do u expect? i was in shock by the defense of this game in my first week too...
20-25 more games it took me to figure out what to do there and establish an average+ defensive skills

Same here.
It took my quite a while to play proper defense. A played pretty good defense in 2k12, but experienced that 2k13's defense is different. It's still hard for me to defend against guys that are extremly quick and can shoot the ball like Paul & Rose. But i think that's how it supposed to be... ;)

try turning your ai defenisve help to 50 or 100 in controller setup - it really helps. adjust your defensive assignments accordingly.

That's normal, but what I didn't like at first (I dunno if I got better at it or smth) is that many small players tend not to be bothered while getting lay-ups even though I try to block them with a center like roy Hibbert, they just slide through him and there aren't any visible collision animation between them. They just score on those lay-ups. That's why I was losing almost all my first games in association.. I tweaked sliders a little and also got a lil better at this game and I didn't notice it anymore that much, I don't know whether it's because I got better at the game or just got used to it... 1 on 1 defense on the other hand is truly amazing, I agree, but it wasn't that hard to defend from the first game opposed to what was happening in the paint..

Turn up the collision sliders for driving and inside shots. Then lower the collision shot success.
