The I Promise to NOT Cheat Thread

Sun Sep 30, 2012 11:45 am

It is looking like everything in 2K13 is going to be based around that VC currency. From MyPlayer accessories, signature skills, and mini-dunk packages, to MyTEAM, and even unlocking players for Blacktop mode, it all costs VC.

Early videos show the game constantly communicating with the 2K servers, meaning that VC amounts aren't stored locally when online....but we play on PC (most of us), and people will mostly likely find a way around such restrictions.

I am going to do my damnest to NOT cheat, not inflate my earned VC, and not gain access to locked items for my MyPlayer. Reply if you are going to do the same, and if you do and then end up cheating, reply again for shunning.

I usually don't try to exploit or cheat a game, because it definitely takes the satisfaction or sense of accomplishment out of the game. That said there are times where I stop caring and just want to see what it's like to unlock a certain thang.

But for 2k, I don't see the point. It's relatively quick and easy to get to 99 in my player, so unless you wanna boost you MyTeam why bother?

I am going to do my damnest to NOT cheat, not inflate my earned VC, and not gain access to locked items for my MyPlayer.

come to think of it im afraid that people will actually do this to start and inflate their vc and take the fun out of MyTeam mode

Yeah me too, no fun in cheating.
Much greater sense of accomplishment in earning the features.

Let's hope that considering how dependent 2K13 will be to VC, as MyTeam and other Online features will be VC driven, and also considering that 2K will be offering additional VC as packs you can buy with real money, they've put in all the measures they could come up with to avoid cheating.

If your VC is kept at all times at 2K's servers, and everything you do results in a specific VC gain, then the game should be able to check whether the VC you have is the proper amount or not. However, I don't know how they've handled people being offline. What happens then? Has 2K turned NBA 2K13 into an always-on game?

I would assume they would log the time in and out. Then compare VC points accumulated and spent between those log times and see if it's a realistic amount based on achievements or milestones completed? Complete shot in the dark but that would seem to be the easiest method.

Nope.
I expect you guys to unlock whatever shite to pieces.
If I want to grind for items I would just play a role-playing game and not a sports simulation videogame, unless I have a prison where I can force inmates to do the grinding for me.

I gotta agree with Shadow here. I'd rather just have everything unlocked from the start. I don't play the game to "work" for full features. I don't feel a sense of accomplishment if i unlock something. It's a videogame.

That said, i have no interest in cheating online. Fair's fair.

I'm of two minds when it comes to unlockables. I don't hate the idea as it can be a fun incentive but I must admit I do like having everything available at the start of the game and some games go overboard in locking content at the outset, so by the time you've unlocked everything you've grown weary of the game and don't really want to spend much time using the stuff you've unlocked.
