Talk about NBA 2K13 here.
Fri Sep 21, 2012 11:55 am
I've been thinking about this for awhile since info has been coming out for the game, and I don't make threads often (or never for that matter). I didn't see anything like this in the section so I though I'd see if anyone would like to share their answer to the question. Feel free to go in depth if you want too, or even talk about mods you plan on creating. Since I have a YouTube channel most of the stuff I'll be doing with probably end up on there. Although if the AI is as bad as 2K12's I might not do any of this, I'm a huge myplayer/coach mode/spectator player.
~ I'll probably end up uploading a match between the two Olympic teams, I know most will probably do the same thing but I think it could be interesting.
~ I'm going to dive into MyCarrer mode a lot sooner this time around, in 2K12 I waited until the patch came out for the PC Version.
~ I had this interesting idea for an association. If they go back to the player roster system they used in 2K11, where you could move anyone pretty much form one team to another with little effort. Based off what we know at this time they are putting in a few new classic teams and bringing back all of the teams from 2K12. I'm planning on combining the current roster with all the classic players (one version of each player ex one MJ, one Pippen). Then do a fantasy association with all of them together, mainly because I'd find that incredibly interesting to see players from past and present playing together. As long as the game has the option to move players and it does a good job in progressing classic players so they fit into the system. I think it could turn out awesome. If it ends up having the same system as 2K12 (PC Version wise), I probably won't do this since it would take ages for me to export/import teams and it wouldn't be worth it.
~ If modding comes as easy as it was in 2K12, I wouldn't mind helping out and upload videos to help show off mods if anyone would like me too.
~ I would like to try and make a true ENB Series (graphic/shadow mods) for 2K13, instead of what most of us did in 2k12, if we could make it as a stand alone mod instead of a mod that requires the global file to be edited, it would be more beneficial. Unless I missed something and that's impossible to do. In 2K12 it conflicted with one of the other mods I used and I couldn't use both.

I might have to see if I can get into modding 2K this year, but I think first of all I'll run through any tutorials to get a feel for the new controls (assuming they have something like last year's Training Camp feature) and then jump into an exhibition game. The Dream Team vs Team USA 2012 seems like as good a choice as any.
I'll definitely give MyCAREER a shot this year. Depending on whether or not Association is riddled with some of last year's annoyances, I might start one and see what Total Sim Control has to offer.

Well if the game has good reviews Ill get it soon enough and then play Quick Games at first to get a feel for the gameplay. Then I just play Association and My Career/MyLegend forever and ever.

Our
Question of the Week #2 is actually similar to what you're discussing.
In
Podcast #5 released this Tuesday, we asked which of the two olympic teams are you going to pick when playing this huge matchup, and if you're not that interested in them, what's the first mode you're going to explore, what's the first thing you're going to do. Although we didn't ask for modding ideas, feel free to post them as well!
So if you want to get your ideas heard in the next podcast, make sure to also join the
podcast's discussion in the new
NLSC Hub. Keep checking the following weeks for our future Questions of the Week too!

At first, get into the practice mode.
Possibly FIBA 2k13.

I've been trying to figure out how I want to go about it, and baring any installation mishaps and online working I plan on....
Loading Blacktop Mode to see what we get,
Checking out the Online options,
Then a Playthrough of the USA Teams, again, like everyone else.
Figure out the Slam Dunk stuff, if available at all,
Mess around with Create a Team and Player, see if anything changed (nope, prob not)
And take a look at the roster & iff files.
Once I'm happy with that basic stuff, I'm going to start a MyCAREER and attempt to enjoy myself. I know I'm going to want to hop right into those Blacktop Online games, so I want a player that can hang.
Then modding resource building, lots and lots of resource building.....

It sure would be funny if we can end up unlocking the All Star stuff through methods we used for 2k12's pre order stuff.
Sun Sep 23, 2012 10:01 am
that is the hope
Sun Sep 23, 2012 10:26 am
Start with a quick game: Dream Team vs Lakers then beat the shit out of Kobe. Might as well take a quick look at MyCareer and Create-a-Shoe.
Perhaps after a week, I'll be asking JaoSming about the files and how to patch 'em so I could get back to what I was doing in 2K11.

same as 2k12, same as 2k11, same as 2k10
mod tool, dds files, profit. (hopefully)
Sun Sep 23, 2012 11:55 am
Editable warmups, editable numbers with real transparent edges, and having the team gear colors changed via a batch file.
(that's one of the things I like with Live, having the teamgear.dbf file editable with Excel)
Sun Sep 23, 2012 12:15 pm
uniform file,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTArMhj5Tuk , and no, team colors are through roster/REDitor, so that takes a bit & requires license
(unless leftos does a find hex color/replace with tool)

A friend of mine and I ran an OA in 2k12 with a couple of guys from another forum. We had like 15 really active members and I really enjoyed OA even though the mode itself was pretty much unfinished. We'll definitely do another OA with the same group of guys, so I'm really looking forward to it.
I'll also give MyTeam a look because I love building teams from scratch without just putting the best player at each position.
Mon Sep 24, 2012 8:32 am
I'm not at all interested in MyTeam, but I'll probably take a look at it.
Mon Sep 24, 2012 8:48 am
First, maybe look at the player ratings (like Dion Waiters and the other rookies) and pIayer models, and then, if I'm not already familiar enough with the game from playing the demo, I'll probably play a quick game, maybe pitting the USA teams against each other, and then just dive into MyTEAM and spend some time with that.
Mon Sep 24, 2012 10:59 am
I'll probably be playing online if 2k keeps their promise of online being fixed.
Mon Sep 24, 2012 12:29 pm
Easily planning on jumping right into MyCareer and Downloading the companion app on my iPod, I pre-ordered so I'll try to be one of the first (true) rookies to make a all-star event. I'll then play an exhibition game to see who's better, '12 or '92.
^^^^^ how I feel right now

Hi guys...I'm in a warmup 2k13 modding, and I start with my TNT mode. now I'm in a total restiling
this is one of logos..like in TNT television, recreated 100% by me, now it's real TNT style

I will probably do an association with either Cleveland or Washington. I'm leaning towards Washington all because of John Wall and Bradley Beal plus Jan Vesely. I may end up trading off Nene, Okafor and Ariza so i can get younger and build from Wall and Beal. I may also go after a big free agent power forward if i have enough cap. I like to usually stink the first year or two and then get the top draft picks usually a top five.
Tue Sep 25, 2012 6:04 pm
Would probably take a look at the new create-a-shoe feature and see if it can lessen the work when it comes to shoes patching/modding.
Fri Sep 28, 2012 7:08 pm
As always I will play exhibition games with a few teams I like to get a feel for the game. I'll do this until a couple of roster updates are done after all the non-guaranteed contract players are either signed or cut. With the proper rosters I'll then start my Timberwolves association like I always do.
But not before creating my own fictional draft class, complete with cyberfaces. I had started this for 2k12 several weeks ago but didn't have much time to work on it and now it's probably too late to release it.
If the 2k12 mods are compatible then I'll be playing a retro season/association using the UBR. Also taking Australia through another season using the FIBA mod.
I also plan to further develop my modding skills and will contribute to other peoples larger scale mods wherever I can.
Fri Sep 28, 2012 9:36 pm
Like everybody else, Dream Team vs Team USA. Might play around with My Player until a more up-to-date roster comes out then start an Association.
