Should I get NBA 2k13 for PC or Xbox 360?

Talk about NBA 2K13 here.

Should I get NBA 2k13 for PC or Xbox 360?

Postby ProStyle8 on Mon Sep 10, 2012 10:51 am

I have a gaming computer that I built by myself that can run any game on the highest settings. However, I have heard that the online for PC is horrendous and it barely works. A lot of times I love to play a quick ranked match against another human or just play online games in general. So Im kinda stuck between what system I should get it for cause I love both my player and online, and I also love all the mods for the PC.

I have no idea what to do can anyone help me out?

Well first of all you have to wait till the game comes out to see how much of a difference the PC and 360 versions have and in what areas. If going by the standard of the last two games then you have to decide yourself if you love the modding ability of PC more or the online functionality of the console version more. We cant help you with that choice buddy, but the PC version is $30 cheaper...so make your pick.

Do you want the All-Star Weekend content? Do you want to play online? If so, get the Xbox 360 version. The PC version will not be getting the dunk contest or three point shootout and online support leaves much to be desired to say the least.

If you're mostly going to be playing offline and don't care about the All-Star Weekend pre-order content that's exclusive to the 360 and PS3, I'd recommend the PC version for the amazing work the modding community is doing.

Surely there will be a way to get the All-star content in the PC game. Surely it's embedded in the game, it's just a matter of unlocking it through REDitor or something. Hopefully.

As for your question, you'll just have to wait and see whether 2k made improvements on the online aspect for PC.

I'd say get both. That's what I'm going to be doing. I got 2k12 on PC for 10 bucks off Amazon. I'm sure there will be deals like that again.

Honestly as someone who solely plays MyPlayer or Association, pick whichever console/PC you play most. If you're into online you are pretty much stuck with a console version.

If online and the All-star weekend aren't a priority then you can't go wrong either way. The mods are nice for PC, and the game will run and look better on PC on max settings, however for me at least, the difference between the two wasn't drastic enough to strongly recommend one over the other.

Online or All-Star weekend ---> Xbox/PS3
Offline and don't play against friends ---> PC

Have we ever had any gameplay enhancements left out of the PC version?

You can bet that we'll all be looking for it and trying to find a way to unlock it if it's there, but for the moment I'm not holding out much hope for that.

The fact that its a code, and that it will be something people can purchase later after the game has been released makes me worried. If it was going to be treated like the two preorder teams for 2K12, that's one thing, but I don't know if 2K can "sell" a settings byte change.
Opinions are my own.

well, more or less due to the issues it caused last year, a one time use code that would become useless if the owner deleted their settings file

I doubt very much that All-Star weekend content is a simple on/off (activation code) switch. And therefore doubt the PC version is going to see these features. If you watch the Official Trailer for All-Star Weekend, and wait for the advertisement at the end. You will notice some disheartening things. I've attached a screenshot for reference.

Image

1. It appears that each feature of All-Star weekend (Slam Dunk Contest, Three-Point Contest, Rising Stars Challenge, and All-Star Game) is a separate download. It specifically says that the pre-order "Includes the following downloadable game modes:..."
To me that implies that each is a separate from the others.

2. Most importanly, it explicity states, *Add-on context for XBOX 360 and Playstation 3 system only....

well, #2 isn't more important, since the two preorder teams were exclusive to those platforms as well...

It is just a matter of waiting for the PC release, that is all.
Opinions are my own.

If I were you, I would get it for Xbox 360. You can get the updates and DLC's in Xbox 360.

But if you want to mod the game/use the mods for the game, then PC can be a nice choice.
