Okay, more impressions then.
- Gameplay is a lot of fun. The new controls make it a blast to play and I'm already simming out my 2K12 stuff because I can not play that game any more. Like 2K7, 2K9 and 2K11 before it, the odd numbered 2K's are always my favorites. Will need to learn how to play some defense though.
- The one My Player thing sucks, but the mode is still fun. Will have to get used to it, but I've never made it through a full season (except for a whole season of D-League in 2K10...) I've been doing more Create A Legend with Brandon Roy, which is fun. Never really use the mode after release month though.
- Association is more or less the same. Total sim control is easy and effective. No more 10 PPG simmed seasons for Nic Batum. Haven't gotten around to simming seasons though. I've been enjoying the mode and its incremental updates for years. Player averages seem fairly reasonable for 2K's false default ratings. D-League appears gone, which sucks for Elliot Williams. Until I notice a glitch, the mode is fine.
Hopefully, the start from the current point in the season feature works once NBA season rolls around because currently it starts you with the team's lockout season record, and the standings count from there.
- Never really had a problem with 2K's menus and still don't, though I liked last year's better. None of the myStuff appeals to me yet, but I usually don't play much online since most of my friends have 360's. The Jay-Z stuff doesn't bother me like I'd feared and as one would expect from the 14th iteration of a sports game, the menus are functional. One thing I really like it the NBA Live 2005 vibe with the scoreboard and menus. That and the right analog stick controls make me feel like I'm playing what a next-gen Live should be.
- The soundtrack caught me off guard with a lot of songs I like but don't really fit the basketball mood. I actually had Around The World and a couple of Justice songs on my custom arena music from last year, but Stillness Is The Move still baffles me whenever it comes on. For my taste, it's at least the best soundtrack since 2K10's though.
With the gameplay as fun as it is, I'm sold on the game, which is good, since I already bought it.
