PC Impressions:
- Player 'abilities' taken away. Post hook and post fade away back into 'attributes'.
- New tendencies i noticed: 'Crash' - player tendencies to fall to the ground when shooting in heavy traffic. Apart from that it looks the same.
- Why the hell is Kanye West's "Amazing" in the game soundtrack? Wasn't it already in 2k11 or 2k10 or something? Auto-tune. Ugh.
- Looks like there's some new animation categories in the post. Why not.
- Coldplay's in the soundtrack? Weird choice lol. I feel like i'm listening to some typical mainstream radio station at the moment.
- The new dunk packages is a great new addition, as is the fact that you can choose the pre-game animations. It's small but i love stuff like that.
- Jay-Z's beats not impressing me so far. Where da funk at?
- And 'Amazing' is playing again after playing playing about 2 or 3 songs ago. Good lord.
- PET PEEVE ALERT: When you scoll through the teams to play an exhibition game, it shows you the sponsors (addidas & NBA) before it shows you the team's ranking in OVR, OFF and DEF. EEEeeeeeerrrrrggggghhhh!! It's only small but it's annoying.
- Not feeling the intro videos. They bouncey flaming basketballs aren't impressing me.
- Players look better in the menus than they do in the game. Overall the in-game graphics look the same as 2k12 to me.
- Instantly feels like 2k12, except slower. Not a bad thing. Physics seem a bit more realistic.
- I'm LOVING the defense! Contesting shots feels better, and blocking is really good. Bogut just blocked the shit out of me in emphatic fashion. YES!
- Driving the basket feels and looks great. Both when i'm doing it, and when the CPU is doing it. YES!
- "Shot feedback" is really detailed. Don't know if that's necessary but hey why not.
- I'm gonna have to watch some of Da_Czar's videos this year to understand what the hell i should be doing haha.
- Pass responsiveness is too slow for me. I want them to pass the ball as soon as i hit the button. It's more fun to create plays and react quickly in the moment. Currently when you push pass the sort of wind up and THEN pass. Same as last year. Oh well.
- I'm getting absolutely smashed in my first game lol. I missed almost every shot in the 2nd quarter and my own crowd started booing. Pretty cool.
- You've really gotta box out.
- The dunk intensity meter is kinda stupid.
- In-game replays seem to cut out early. :?
- Charges are back! WOO!

Overall, the game is good. In fact it's great. No doubt 2k have plateaued though. Shelf-life will not be long for 2k13, unless MyTeam is really fun. OH WAIT, they didn't include that. Oh well, i guess i'll just focus on collecting Virtual Curren--OH WAIT they didn't include that either. Ah well, i'll just have some fun in the dunk cont-OH FUCK IT

I'll post further impressions as they come. I haven't played any game modes yet.

In the topic "Nba 2k13 lakers vs heat 10 min long clip" was the discussion about half price for PC compared to consoles. I was wrote there, that except half the price PC vers. has (in 2k11-2k12) and will have half of graphics and features.
Now know for sure to confirm: PC version have half of graphics and features :turrible:
Jay-z and new logo design did not even help

It was there in 2k12 too, just that it was hidden. It was edited through player 'abilities', which are now gone in 2k13.

It's not half the graphics. We're only missing self-shadowing. So please stop repeating that.

And we'll still have shadow mods this year, so it's only going to get more impressive from here on out. If the menus have proper shading, then it's only a matter of copy-pasting the menu lighting values to the in-game ones, as soon as the research is done.

Nick, isn't the "Crash Boards" tendency the new one, the one that dictates how often the player goes for a rebound? There's a "Crash" tendency for how often the player "crashes to the floor"? :P

Yep.

There is no new "crash boards" tendency. Where did you hear that? There is a "putback" tendency but that's always been there..

A "crash boards" tendency is a great idea imo when your in season and look at the stats and see Kevin Love averaging 10rpg with maxed out rebounding edits (N)

It's impossible with K.Love unless you edit his tendencies and of course the sliders. In the first game with the T-Wolves with unedited K.Love, I managed to get 4 rebounds with him with the sliders made for rebounding. This was in 5 min quarters. The second game, with K.Love edited, I managed to get 16 rebounds with K.Love. 6 were offensive! I We may finally get sim o.rebounding stats

I still don't have the game until the 5th.

I just want to ask if the online login account from 2K12 can be used in 2k13?

Or they are now strict to create a new one and enter the CD key?

Impressions #2 (Association):
- Association is the same. New CBA is cool, but everything else is exactly the same.
- They claimed they fixed rotations, they still seem silly to me. Key players still get too few minutes, and 11th and 12th men are still given too many minutes.
- "Total Sim Control" is just a simplified version of coach profiles. There is NOTHING special about this feature. Disappointed.
- Individual stats in league leaders are still low.
- Hot tip: Turning the music off stops all the distracting menu dancing.
- Realistion: 2k's priorities have clearly shifted from being passionate about producing a great basketball sim, to attracting sales and other general business priorities. You can't blame them for that but it's just another reason why this game plateuad at around 2k11. Shame.
- With that said: The gameplay is really quite good. At first it feels too similar to 2k12, but the more your mind adjusts from 2k12 to 2k13, the more it feels like authentic NBA Basketball. Very cool.
- The fucking Association fuck up that was in 2k12 where big men's 3pt tendency slowly increased year-to-year is in fucking 2k13 again! :x God damn that bug was annoying. It ruins the FG% of big guys becuse they start attempting 3's and not making any. God fucking diggity dammit.
- Still the same shit with how 2k roster interacts with their Association mode. EVERYBODY IMPROVES and ALL of the teams become good. They need make player progression less based on their potential rating and more based on opportunistic factors like playing time/experience (to improve) and injuries (to bust). not to say that the potential rating shouldn't matter. It should. But it should matter less, and there should be more of a "farming" factor. I.e. a rookie that gets starting minutes will improve quicker than a player that is stuck at the bottom of a stacked roster. They should improve by getting confidence after good performances. Otherwise everybody improves and there are no busts. There should be TWO potential ratings - One called "floor potential" and one called "ceiling potential". Ceiling potential dictates how good they can become. And floor potential dictates how likely they are to "fall off the map" (it could also dictate how quickly they decline). This means there is a "range" of potential that can either be fulfilled or not fulfilled depending on the prospects opportunities throughout their career. Rant over.

..but then again, they constantly have made it great in terms of gameplay. I also feel the same about Pro Evolution Soccer - basically everything about it, except for gameplay, sucks! Gameplay matters the most

quick impressions about the whole product management : amazing work on the core feature, the gameplay, really the best improvement from an year to another; terrible work on the little things...removing stuff and features like the d-league or shoe editing, that auto-save force, the sliders sticking to the setting file and so on. Online improved, offline remaining pretty much the same with some fix. Too much focus on myplayer, too little on the good old association

- No way to remove signature skills from a player, unless i'm missing something. You can only appoint them. It's nothing REDitor can't fix but that's months away.

its tied to your account now. The easiest work around, since the MyPlayer isnt online anyway, is to just create multiple offline accounts and use Benji's manager program.

Okay, more impressions then.

- Gameplay is a lot of fun. The new controls make it a blast to play and I'm already simming out my 2K12 stuff because I can not play that game any more. Like 2K7, 2K9 and 2K11 before it, the odd numbered 2K's are always my favorites. Will need to learn how to play some defense though.

- The one My Player thing sucks, but the mode is still fun. Will have to get used to it, but I've never made it through a full season (except for a whole season of D-League in 2K10...) I've been doing more Create A Legend with Brandon Roy, which is fun. Never really use the mode after release month though.

- Association is more or less the same. Total sim control is easy and effective. No more 10 PPG simmed seasons for Nic Batum. Haven't gotten around to simming seasons though. I've been enjoying the mode and its incremental updates for years. Player averages seem fairly reasonable for 2K's false default ratings. D-League appears gone, which sucks for Elliot Williams. Until I notice a glitch, the mode is fine.

Hopefully, the start from the current point in the season feature works once NBA season rolls around because currently it starts you with the team's lockout season record, and the standings count from there.

- Never really had a problem with 2K's menus and still don't, though I liked last year's better. None of the myStuff appeals to me yet, but I usually don't play much online since most of my friends have 360's. The Jay-Z stuff doesn't bother me like I'd feared and as one would expect from the 14th iteration of a sports game, the menus are functional. One thing I really like it the NBA Live 2005 vibe with the scoreboard and menus. That and the right analog stick controls make me feel like I'm playing what a next-gen Live should be.

- The soundtrack caught me off guard with a lot of songs I like but don't really fit the basketball mood. I actually had Around The World and a couple of Justice songs on my custom arena music from last year, but Stillness Is The Move still baffles me whenever it comes on. For my taste, it's at least the best soundtrack since 2K10's though.

With the gameplay as fun as it is, I'm sold on the game, which is good, since I already bought it.

The music is horrible. I don't understand why there are images of JayZ in concert or music video snippets on the menus or between game quarters. Hip hop and rappers are integrated in the game as if each NBA game is a sideshow for a hip hop concert.

Honestly, it's not that big a deal to me, but I thought 2k12's music was terrible. I suppose it's a personal preference. Not really an important feature I pay too much attention to, but it was an "impression" I got from playing the first time. Deal with it. LOL

Lamrock, good news for me, as I already bought it, too and I know that you see the gameplay fairly critical usually. Seems like a lot of guys are really satisfied with the game. I hope I will get it tomorrow.

Is it just me or the scoring in NBA 2k13's way too unrealistic. I've played 2 games and I've scored 130+ to cpu's 90+ and 120+...

I don't think that's realistic since I used Celtics vs Heat and Celtics vs Mavs.... Mavs leading scorer is Vince Carter along with his 4 blocks... (I'm locked at PG)

field goal percentage is unrealistic imo...
